What does "Reputation" mean and why do keno, tom and kevin have black marks and everyone else has green?

i thought those black or green circles or dots meant online (green) or not online (black). where is "reputation"?
When I mouse over the black mark next to my name, it says I have a 'disabled' reputation. I disagree. I think my reputation is quite enabled, and it is that I am an idiot that has no idea how to write or speak English, no knowledge of the technical aspects of cycling, and I am a slow and whiny rider that is prone to sudden changes of line and braking for no apparent reason.
That reputation is accurate, folks!

I don't know about those. I'm talking about the squares by your name and on the Members List.

john, i found it. it is strange. is it like in school, having a "permanent record". be careful, or it'll go in your "permanent record".

I was worried about the black mark also, since I have one, until I saw that Serotta_Alyson has the black mark too. But you can change it in the User CP.

. . . my "reputation" is "off the scale!!"
Unfortunately it doesn't say which WAY it is "off the scale!"
But I am so grateful to Serotta Alyson for the NEW SMILIES!

Every teacher I ever had in school gave me a black mark. I guess it really does go on your permanent record.

Left click "User CP", left click "Edit Options", and under "Login & Privacy" you will find your reputation level. Apparently, I haved opted not to show mine despite the fact that no one asked. But, I'm not complaining 'cause I'm a 10. If you should see Bo and me next to each other, you will see we are well matched.
