What is the smallest 110mm BCD narrow wide chainring available?

To be eyes, Wolftooth makes a 34tooth version. Is there a way to get to 32t? Its not for CX, but I was thinking of using a vintage square taper crank on a 1x10 for offloading. 34t would be at the top end of what is possible - 32t would be better.

If you're not using it for cross, I don't think a narrow-wide will be necessary. I use a regular chainring on my 1x8 commuter and I think I've dropped the chain once in the last year.

I am using it for offroading, so narrow wide is necessary.

I have heard varying reviews that you don't need a NW ring if you use a clutch derailleur, etc.

My FS bike has a Raceface NW ring and an SLX clutch derailleur and it has thus far worked flawlessly.

For what it's worth...several local riders I trust use regular rings and clutch derailleurs offroad and claim they don't drop chains.

If you're interested in trying that setup you probably could find an inexpensive 94mm 5 arm crankset which will take chainrings down to 30t. Yup, I am using a 33t TA chainring. Does it make a difference? There is a difference, but it is small. Of course, in my case, every little bit helps!

Nevertheless, if you need a new crank, best to do as another poster stated and go to a 94mm crank so that you can go down to a 30t! Good Luck!

Yes, I suppose the best is to actually sell my Ritchey 110mm crankset and put the funds towards a 104mm SRAM or Raceface model that is designed to work this way :).

I love this Ritchey crank and am trying to rationalize making it work, but maybe it just won't manage.

I was in the same boat a couple of weeks ago and ran a gear calculator. I'm changing over to 1x11 right now and decided to use my XTR m900 crank with the 110bcd 34t from Wolftooth based on the results. I'm losing more on the top end than the bottom. My current granny ring is a 26t and small cog 32t.

Minimum chainring size for a given bcd is a matter of chain pitch and chainring diameter. The math says minimum of 38 for 130, 33 for 110.

Narrow-wide chainrings alternate between narrow and wide teeth. This is to mate wide teeth with the wider part of a chain link, and narrow teeth with the narrower part of the chain link. You therefore need to have an even number, or else you would have to have two narrows or two wides in a row.

These only work for 4-bolt new Shimano style 110 BCD, not the vintage 110 BCD 5-arm the OP is talking about.

They're listed as being compatible only with their own 48T chainring.
Anyone have luck macking it work with a regular round chainring? I already have a 48t don't want to change both much considering there's a 100+$ difference!

Not sure if it’s narrow wide, but another option for a 110bcd 5-arm crankset is the BikinGreen 46/30 chainrings. For about $83 you get both rings. Good Luck!
