Conti 4Season sizes

I see it on their site, and I'm hoping it is just a mistake, or maybe they're having a supply disruption. That is terrible though. The 4 season is the exact tire that SHOULD come in 28.

Contemplating buying a few pairs of them, as they're still available for sale.

Hmmm. I just sold a pair of 28s to a friend because I wasn't using them, and I thought I could always buy another pair in the future if I need them. I totally agree that the 4 Season is the exact type of tire that should always come in a 28. And I would be even more delighted if they came in a 32.

I have the 28s in Conti GP 4000 IIs. Although I do not have enough miles to know durability, they are more supple than the 4 Seasons on the rough, chip and seal roads I ride. They also measure wider than the 4 Seasons. Reviews on the web indicate good durability although I am sure the 4 Seasons are less prone to flats and are more durable.

As of 10/30/14 these folks claimed they could be had in 28 and 32. The review is of the 28s.

Strange the racier 4000s2 come in 28s while the more multi-purpose 4Seasons dont. Im voting website flaw.

I was looking for some 700x28 4-Seasons over the weekend and couldn't find any. Plenty of 700x28 Grand Prix 4000 S II's but I prefer the 4-Seasons on our Tandem for the durability. I also run them on my Volagi Liscio. This will irk me greatly if they are in fact dropping the wider sizes. :mad:

Thanks for reaching out to us and for your interest in Continental Tires. The 28mm 4Seasons has not been discontinued though there have been some ongoing production changes and delays, we expect to have the tire back in full production and available to the public by Spring of 2016. No significant production changes are being made to the features or construction of the tire, we are implementing a new mold so the tire measures true to size. The 28mm 4Seasons has always been undersized in the past in regards to the true width.

Additional from followup email: 700x32 4 Seasons are set to arrive sometime later than the 28s. It would be great if the 32s measure a true 32.

I would agree with this. I found the 4 Seasons to be very durable, almost too durable, and don't believe I suffered a single flat in thousands of miles on the horrible roads of NY/NJ. That being said, my 28s measured about 26 on a standard rim and the ride was pretty rough compared to other "less robust" tires.

Well there you go. Seems like it wouldn't be hard for someone inside the organization to fire up the computer and change the 700x28 on the box to 700x26... but what do I know.

The 4-Seasons have always measured small in the 28's. The 26's and 28's are basically the same size when mounted. Conti is redoing the 28 to be a true 28 and supposedly coming out with a 32, though they've said that kind of thing in the past and then never delivered.

The 4-Season is a tire that's makes me happy all winter long because I never have to stop to fix a flat with frozen fingers or disrupt a team ride. However, come spring, it still looks like it has about 3000 km left on it and I simply want to put on a Veloflex and feel virtuous doing so. The tires never wear out. The 4000S-2 is a similar tread, same rubber apparently, and the casing is more supple. If you like to throw metal scrap against the sidewalls of your tires and cut them open, stick with the 4-Season. If your issue is simply punctures, I did fine with the 4000S-2's and enjoyed them more. The 28 mm 4000S-2 is a very sweet tire for something that's so durable and a great winter tire -- the big profile and the durability and good wet-weather rubber make for an ideal rain tire. I'll probably still hate it in the spring, but not with the vengeance I reserve for 4-Seasons.
