View Full Version : Seatpost with 10-15mm setback?

So my 25mm setback makes me clamp the rails all the way at the back, past the STOP line. My zero setback makes me clamp the rails all the way at the front, past the STOP line. Neither actually puts me where I want to be. So something in-between would allow me to put the saddle in the middle of the rails, I'm guessing (correct me if I'm wrong, here).
I know about the Ritchey's. $210/260, more than I'd like to spend but nice & what came with the bike. Thomson Masterpiece (what the 0 I have is), $150, more to my liking but not sure about the bent post look. Both about 15mm offset.
What else would be light & good? Going on a carbon frame. 31.6.

What about one of the cheaper Ritcheys? WCS Alloy, or WCS Carbon.

The Carbon was the $210. Could go alloy, I guess.

PRO (Shimano's component company) makes 15mm setback posts as well. If you're game for aluminum, he PLT is inexpensive and works well. Also, as mentioned, Ritchey Link and PMP are good options. I have one of each and the Ritchey looks like it measures less than the 15mm advertised based on where my saddle sits on the rails. That may be good or bad depending on your exact needs.

Bontrager makes some low setback posts....5-15mm setback.

They are nice, and I have used them for several years in the past but they do require two tools to adjust - a hex key and a wrench. Always annoyed me.

I would try the Thomson SB. Great post and the setback amount you're looking for. You'll quickly get used to the look.

Truvativ and Easton both have 10mm-12mm setback posts. The Truvativ posts have a two-bolt clamp similar to Thomson - I've been happily using them for years.

I was going to suggest it as well. Very nice post.

I have a Pro PLT seatpost. I like it with 2 nits: on the heavy side @ 279gm for a 350x31.6; and the clamping mechanism although once together is solid and finely adjustable, a little tricky with initial assembly.

I have not used their seatpost but control tech makes awesome stuff.

I like the thomson masterpiece but I also hate the bend. It does work on some bikes but it looks bad on a lot of them too

Cannondale C1 alloy seatpost has 15mm of setback. Great seatpost; solid clamp and easy to adjust.

Another one is the new Deda Zero 100 with 12mm of setback. Or if you've got a bit more cash; the Deda Superleggero

Wow. Lots more than I thought. I figured this halfway thing would be tough to find. Thanks for all the leads.

Where it doesn't, that control tech looks great.

Deda Superleggera

I'm looking at this one, but wonder if anyone knows if:
a) it will work with Fizik carbon rails?
b) if this is the same thing? http://www.planetcyclery.com/deda-superleggero-rs-seatpost-black-31-6mm?utm_source=google_shopping&gclid=CO-fhMCkr8cCFYiPHwodqX8K3A
Is there a non-carbon version? This seems might cheap.

Yes this is the one and it works with Fizik carbon rails. I have Aliante carbon on mine.

I got the Deda from Ryun, but don't measure correctly. It's yours for $50 if you can deal with a 220mm length.
