Well, it does move the upper pulley farther away from big cogs but doesn't eliminate the need for more chain with great big cogs so you can go big-big w/o breaking the chain.

Not sure why they say shimano rear ders only, all rear ders use the same der hanger bolt spec, 10by1

Likely going to allow you to use a higher tooth count cog however certainly going to degrade shifting performance on your lower tooth count cogs with the cage pulleys being further from the cogs. There is going to be more lateral chain flex over multiple links from the cogs.

Like the Spud mentioned, don't understand why Shimano should have an exclusive on this.
