I'm thinking of turning the knob to 11 on my next cross bike and was wondering how nice the Athena rear ders were. I've always had record but I'm not hot for spec-ing a carbon rear der on a cross bike.

They work just fine. And look great to boot.

The rear has been ok for me, but the FD has been a real pain in the ass.

I have them on 2 bikes and chorus on 1. They all seem to be functionally identical.

What is the FD doing? I put it all on a bike earlier in the year and it set up easily. I did notice the FD had only a small sweet spot with regards to my setup. However, I am admittedly a total hack mechanic.

I have the whole group on my red GT and unless I'm upshifting or look down, I can't tell any difference between it and the Record 11 on my other bikes. No issues with the FD. Velomine had some NOS alloy UT Athena cranksets last I checked.

Apologies for speaking for TinTurtle, but I think the issue was the front der shift lever, not the the derailleur.

Athena 11 is an exceptional value and it functions beautifully. The 11 speed front drlrs take some fiddling to get set up right and the cable tension needs to be just so.
