Anyone remember how to do it?

I need to clean mine.
I don't remember how they come apart; how the spring is wound up in there.
I do NOT want to break those springs by doing something wrong...

They are very simplex!
Simply remove the tension screw and pull them off the post. The spring just sits inside the lever body. The only thing I have ever seen go wrong with them is if one of the tangs breaks off the spring. Fear not and proceed with one side at a time...just in case ;)

Best friction style levers ever

This might help too...

There is a plastic capture washer in them that holds the mounting bolt in place...I had to press on one end of the bolt while unscrewing it. Still took a long time to free the bolt.

Perfect timing, I just was going to take mine apart today!

Some styles have a nylon waher on the post side of the screw that holds the screw tight to the shifter parts when off the clamp or frame. You can hold the washer from turning with a 2nd screwdriver, awl, or other pointy object.

On mine, the washer that sits under the bolt is stuck to the lever body.

I.E. #4473 and/or #3670 won't come off w/out a fight...

The nylon washer doesn't show in that diagram. It's small enough to go clear back in the pocket on the back side (deep in part 3669). I'm assuming the screw isn't loose from the shifter. The washer is probably what's holding the screw.

Speaking of the spring, mine broke on the right lever. The shifting action had gotten harder and harder in upshift direction, then just broke. It turned out that the cylindrical part that the lever rotates on was frozen to the inner cylindrical part. Is there any place to get these springs? Pretty sure they are oriented differently left and right side.

Ooof. Sorry man. Those are impossible to find.
That's why I wanted to make damn sure I didn't break mine.

Thanks to Oliver1850 for one suggestion. I actually had one replacement since I had one spare functional right lever among two other partial sets. The other sets are both missing springs.
