Now that grad school is finished, my daughter would like to start riding again. Several years ago I bought her a nice Torelli frame and built it with Campy 9 speed, a mix of Centaur and Racing T components.
Mixed with this drive train were some Dura Ace 9 speed wheels. While not supposed to work, the shifting was fine. But here's my problem, I've repurposed the wheelset for another build and now need to get a wheelset for my daughter's frame.
It seems these are my options:
1) Find another 9 speed Shimano wheel set and send her on her way
2) Find or have built, a 9 speed Campy wheelset
3) Send her front shifter to Old Potato to be converted to 10 speed and have a 10 speed wheelset built.

What do you recommend?

-Steve

Campy 9/10/11 speed wheels are all the same free hub. All youd need is a 9 speed cassette on the wheels.

I like 2 or 3, altho 10s discs and front toothed bushings are getting scarce. ..Miche are great hubs and are Campagnolo 9/10/11s compatible.

If a hub is 10s or 11s Campagnolo compatible, they are 9s compatible.

10s..few more cogset ratios available..12-23, 13-26, 13-28 is all for Campagnolo 9s these days but readily available.

I'd go with a new pair of Khamsins (or Fulcrum 7s) and a 9 speed cassette.

They won't sell the Campy version outside the UK and they are out of stock on the Shimano version.

Didn't notice that, thought they'd been available not too long ago.

Sciroccos and Fulcrum 7s seem to be for sale.

Just a heads up to pay attention to shipping costs with wheels. Ribble charges $54 to USA.

If you're in the US, Planetcyclery has incredible prices, IMHO, and free shipping even with wheels. I've never bought from them, so proceed at your own risk.

Good to know, hadn't noticed ribble was charging Pro's Closet rates for shipping.

Wiggle apparently has Khamsins for $146, shipped.

Bought some Zonda's a few months ago from Ribble. Don't remember what the shipping was, but no where near that.

$56- my bad. I think it's a recent thing. I remember it being in the $30's or $40's last year when I was shopping around.

Velomine.com. Incredible prices on Miche hub wheelsets. They also carry Origin8 branded campy hubs (re-badged Formula) at a budget price, if that's what you're looking for.

Great customer service and reasonable shipping to boot.

I picked up a NIB set of Mische 9/10 speed hubs laced to Ambrosia wheels on the "bay" a whle ago for $150 shipped...deals on "older" Campy stuff can be found with a little patience. Me, I SWARE by my 8/9 speed Record groupos and will probably never go 10 or 11........
