Just for curiosity, has anyone ridden both the older Steel C4 and the new C5 frame sets? Is there a noticable difference in ride characteristics? I know the real life answer is likely no, but I remember when I first rode a 853 steel frame and it sure felt different, although as I am sure someone will point out, it was more likely due to other factors, such as wheels, tires, seat post.....

Just curious if the C5 was indeed an improvement, or just something newer.

I am going with "something newer."

There is essentially no difference between the steels...other than the manufacturer. I believe the C4 was Reynolds, and the C5 is Columbus. I may have that backwards. Throwing in a little "niobium" for spice is unlikely to affect ride all that much.

I believe that both the C4 and C5 tubes are the same shape (tapered & butted).
