For those who don't want to hunt down a suitable bike for L'Eroica...This is a preview of the new Bianchi L'Eroica prototype. The bicycle will be released soon by the prestigious Italian brand. Inspired by the Bianchi racing machines of the 1950s and 1960s, the new frame is made in Italy from Columbus Zona tubing and painted in the traditional Celeste Bianchi colour with chrome-plated parts.

To make it easier for anybody to find a bicycle to ride at Eroica Events, the bike is officially certified by L'Eroica as a proper vintage-style bike.

I like it. It appears to have plenty of room for some fat tires.

I've read some grouchiness about the non-Campy equipment on this -- calipers, shifters, crankset, but my hat is off to Bianchi.

The fact of the matter is that Campy isn't making high end centerpulls, friction shifters, etc., whereas Dia-Compe has been carrying that flame for years.

Retrogrouchiness aside, I'd ride one.

It looks ice, but if I ever decide to go all eroica, I'm gonna make sure it is an authentic old bike. Part of the allure for me is seeing the range of bikes used for the rides...I always seem to see bikes I would never see otherwise.
