i am officially imbibing now.
our little town has a cinco de mayo whatever
gala walk-through during which all the galleries
are open late and the shoppes (normally, they
are shops, but for gala nights they are shoppes)
all have wine and little food thingys out for tasting.
i will pass through all of them, concentrate on the reds,
and then attempt to write about setback and the effect
of femur length of the female teenager on frame design.
later atmo.

What e said but in english. Drop a plumb, figure out your setback, then you can figure out how long of a stem you need and you will know if it will work. 12, 13, 14 ok but anything shorter stay away and anything longer does not exist. The st length is far more flexible that the effective tt length atmo.

Well I used a 14cm once but I wasn't crazy about doing it. I sold it and bought a frame that fit me better and only need a 12cm stem. I have one other bike with a 130mm stem but prefer to stay with 120mm.

It ain't the height, it's the lenght! Have you seen Petacchi's bike? Way to small for him in height, but loooong enough.

I am not going to talk about his stem lenght, tough!

Doesn't the jerk ride a 170? Or is it 180mm? CRS.

Climb,

To convert to a 140 stem how much shorter of a tt did you get on the ridley compared to your average bike? How do you arive at the proper tt measurement, figure in setback and stem angle? On my most comfortable bike I have a 58 tt and 120 stem if converting to longer stem would I just go to a 56 tt and 140 stem? Does anybody know of a site were you can change #'s around? Thanks for any help.

Oh SNAP, Havlicek!

Once upon a time, the land presently called Saratoga Springs was in the tropics.

These continents have drifted almost as far as this thread!

Let me give it another push...

Havlicek was my mother's maiden, some family members used to say to me as a kid that my endurance came from him.

Bro, I agree with you. There was a Sachs that was on eBay a while back ago and it was close to my size and I gave it serious consideration, but just couldn't pull the trigger on something that cost that much and it wasn't just right.

Hey, not to be mean. But I thought lance had not nuts after 1992. Or did he ever?

A cop around here said that, that is why he rode so well. Ooops!

I feel ya Keith!
I had "pulled-the-trigger" on a Sachs on the bay...
it was ready to be shipped...money-order in hand....
when I just felt the fit wouldn't be as good as the Merckx
I was going to build up..
well??
I'm VERY happy with my Merckx!
And I think there's a gentleman in Washington state who's equally
happy with a "red-and-white" 2-wheeler!
