It's New Bike Day. Kinda. My Tarmac frame and the parts for the build have been around for a while, but thanks to Nick (Angry Scientist) and his new school wrenching skills, it went from a pile of nice parts to a rolling, reeling hunk of hot carbon. (It's 95F in NJ today)

Here's a pic. This was a couple of days ago, with most of the components installed but no chain, and a few cabling glitches to be ironed out.

The stuff:
2010 Specialize Tarmac Pro SL, nude carbon
Cane Creek headset
Campagnolo Chorus compact cranks, 11-speed rear derailleur, chain, 12-29 cassette and brakes
Campagnolo Record 11-speed shifters, front derailleur
Campagnolo Shamal Ultra wheels
3T ARX Stealth Stem 100 mm
3T Ergosum handlebars
Generic 27.2 seatpost (soon to be replaced by Fizik R3)
Fizik Arione Titanio saddle
Look Carbon pedals
Fizik performance tape

The "bathroom scale" weight is just under 15 pounds even with the alloy bars and post and the relatively heavy Gatorskin tires (which are due to be replaced eventually with Veloflex Masters with natural sidewalls.)

This has been a true Paceline project. The frame and post came from Jalal, the gruppo from Aaron, the wheels and handlebars from Rebel Biker. Veloduffer made the lovely gesture of offering a bar and stem to a complete stranger just for the asking. Turns out I don't need the bars, but I'll be making a contribution to the forum to honor his kindness, as well as the good will from the rest of you.

The stem, saddle and the new post came from The Pro's Closet while the chain, cables and cassette were sourced at ridiculously low prices (below US dealer cost) from Ribble.

Thanks to so many of you for your advice and counsel but especially Nick for his hospitality and finishing putting the darn bike together, and Old Potatoe for answering my Campy related queries.

I'll post more pics soon using the big-boy camera (Nikon D700) instead of the phone.

Two of my favorite things were among the cheapest:

A stem topper that mimics the shutter speed dial on a Nikon FE2.
(I've got an FE and to make it truly authentic I've got to color in a few of the numbers. Love that the "A" points back at me, Allen. )

And a name decal of sorts:
The little flag is from The Isle of Man.

Sorry that these photos are posting so huge. I'm hosting them on Facebook--what can I do to scale them down? TIA
Allen

Very nice, I have the Expert version of this that I have recently upgraded to Ultegra 11 spd, the frames are the same.

You will love the ride, stiff when it needs to be, but does not beat you up!

Where did you get that stem topper?

Very cool and I am a Nikon guy (-;

Thanks everyone. I took the bike for a brief shakedown and really loved the ride and handling. Much of the good stuff from my old Serotta, but the light weight and the gearing make it much easier to ride. The weight is a sort of +/- a pound or so, but I've seen other Tarmacs around that 15 lb. number, and honestly there are no Weight Weenie parts on this one. Yet.

The stem topper is from Kustom Caps.
