I'm in a bit of conundrum. I'm disgusted that I spend $200+ on bib shorts that "kinda sorta" fit perfect. Yet I wouldn't mind spending a little more to get them perfect- mostly in the area of shortened inseam and some shoulder strap tweaking.

Does anyone know of a technical fabric specialty tailor? I'm in NYC but would gladly send out for someone with proven experience in this area. For some reason I'm just not comfortable doing this with my regular tailor.

Any thoughts?

Sorry, I can't help you with NY.

I can tell you that my local dry cleaner has a tailor that sewed 3 rear elastic pockets on my Ibex Shak, turned an Icebreaker 320 g long sleeve, full zip top into a vest and replaced the zippers on my PI booties with Velcro. I paid $25, $25 and $15 for the jobs, respectively.
She also replaced the front zipper on a Descente winter bike jacket.

Another tailor at a different dry cleaner sewed an inside pocket into an Ibex jacket for me.

I would at least ask your tailor if he/she can do the work.
