Like the title says, what kind of miles are you putting in on the daily? Road, mountain, mixed terrain? fast flat miles or conquering mountains?

Here in Vancouver we've got quite a bit to choose from, but it usually goes like this for me.

Cyclocross: 30- 60 km burn through gravel trails and single track, most of which is within 20 minutes of the city. Not tons of elevation, but lots of old single track dotted throughout left over from the 90's.

Mountain: We usually blast up to the North Shore mountains after work when the light is good. Seymour and Fromme are the favorites and offer lots of steep, technical climbing and descending. Rides are usually between 10-25km depending on how light it stays.

Road: Usually 60-100km and LOTS of climbing. The usual 100km route out to Porteau Cove gives you around 3,500m (11,000 feet) of elevation while 60-70km rides (which usually involve climbing one of our many local mountains) will get you around 1,100 to 1,700m.

What are you guys riding?

With very young kids my rides are 30+ miles with 3300-4000ft of climbing on mix terrain. They use to be longer . But I get a century ride in once or twice a year.

Commute every day, 5 miles each way

30-40 mile flat rides on local bike paths in the evenings sometimes

60-80 mile weekend rides every other weekend or so

Rhode Island so no climbing

Average -- around 30 miles. Light days are 10 - 20 miles. After work usually around 40 when the light is good late. Sundays usually 50+. Try to average around 175 a week,, give or take. (lately, that's been tough, with the weather). No really long 'big' climbs in this immediate area, but plenny of short steep ones around 10% and from 100 meters up to 1/2 mile. Otherwise, plenny of flat-ish stuff.

I do 50-ish twice a week and 30-ish twice a week. That's typically it. 10,000 our so ft of climbing. 16-19mph pace.

(This is why Strava exists)

I ride 12 to 20 miles on Tuesdays and Thursdays if I can schedule it at the office. 50 to 70 miles on Saturdays with the guys.

CX: usually ride either some singletrack that's right near my house for 90-120 minutes (maybe 30km), or head to the city and ride some assorted trails that loop around a river for 3-4 hours (60-80km).

Road: during the week its a few commutes (1 hr, 30km) and a few interval sessions after work (90-100 mins, 40-60km). Elevation to work is 300m, elevation straight home is 500m and interval sessions are usually around 1000m. Weekend I like to ride at least 3-4 hours and knock out 80-120km.

Or to look at it weekly I'm riding 8-12 hours, doing 250-300km and 5,000-8,000m.

Not even ashamed to say this but I'm only putting in about 20 road miles a week. I used to ride a lot more but i felt like I was facing some sort of knee or hip pain constantly. I finally reached a point where I decided RK shorten my rides. I'm enjoying cycling life greatly now. I mix in a ride on the mountain bike (10 miles) almost every week in addition.

About 2 to 2 1/2 hours on the road about 3-5 days per week. Various routes around the republic. BUT I don't care if I ride the same way everyday. Each ride is different. Mechanical meditation.

Don't have a computer, I have a watch.

The typical weeknight club ride is 30 miles +/-, 2000 feet climbing +/-. The E/F (fast) group I usually hang with will average 20-21 mph. I try for at least one longer (50-75 mile) ride on the weekends, aiming for a 18-20 mph pace.

Just yesterday I was thinking - I wonder why Paceline doesn't have a Strava club
LOL, glad I didn't start a thread before I saw your post

On Topic -
Most of my rides are either road or dirt road rides. Unless it's winter then it's mostly trails on a fat bike or the trainer.

Mile wise I'm sitting at about 5k for the year, guessing I'll get somewhere between 8000-9000 miles when it's over.

45-50 miles per ride 3-4 days a week with a couple of 30 milers 2 days a week. I try for 250 miles/ week or more.

My work commute is about 20-25 miles a day. If i'm feeling good and or not have a lot of things to do after work, I try to do a quick beat the sunset rides...usually another 40 miles.

On the weekends, I tack in another 100-140 miles. I live in NYC and there's not a lot of big climbs here especially if you're starting your ride from the city. If you take the metro north a few miles, well, north of the city you can be creative and find a lot of steep rolling hills, and gravel roads.

Weekday rides: two 18-35 miles, usually as part of a workout, with a 10 mile recovery ride in there somewhere. I also get on my Concept2 ergo and do morning "warmups" if I'm not going to ride until the evening.

Weekend: on one day I do a 30-50 mile ride or race, the other day, usually a cruiser towing the trailer.

I usually end up with 6-9 hours of riding a week. Seems pretty balanced with a wack work schedule and a baby at home.

I commute on average 3 days a week 9 miles in and 9 back. Wednesday night is the local fast ride which amounts to 40 miles and about 2500ft climbing with a typical average of 18-19mph. I try to do one weekend ride that is typically 60-80 miles.

In the fall I do a lot more MTB riding and of course cyclocross racing. So far this year I've not even gotten my race license. First time in decades I've not raced on the road. Oh well life catches up at some point.

Crits two days a week, maybe a 2-mile ride in shorts to grab coffee. Surprisingly, I seem to be improving substantially at crits (my first season) despite this lax schedule.

Although I do run 80-90mpw.

Pretty flat out here in the valley, but I typically ride 4-5 days a week usually 20 miles with one day being closer to 40.

Try to ride 5 days a week, typically riding 1.5-2.0 hours in the orchards and rolling hills in upper valley and mountains out my door...

Right now, intervals on Tues, tempo on Wed, race two crits on Thurs, rest Fri. Sat is a fast 100k ride that leaves me exhausted, Sun is a couple of hours at tempo or less if I'm still knackered, and Mon is rest. It's only about 10 hours total but feels like a lot. I couldn't train any more than that and keep my job and family.

8mi RT commute 3-5 days per week with one longer 45-65mi ride on the weekend. Strava says I'm averaging 63mi/wk.

Oh, and about 35-40 avg. Doing around 17mph these days on pretty flat (1-2K ft) courses.

didnt know we have a strava group either, just joined... with work, wife and kids i usually only have about an hour for rides, so they range from 15-25 i'd say, average 18 miles as thats my commute to work for the summer when i can get that in... try to get a few longer rides in on weekends but we're usually too busy... mileage is a lot less this year than in years past...

2 - 3 hours in the rocking chair, usually in the middle of the night while carrying a newborn for extra resistance.

For crosstraining, I often wander around the various rooms of our house while gently bouncing said baby for the added upper-body workout.

Ahh, the joys of parenthood . . . someday I'll get the miles in again, I'm sure. In the meantime I wouldn't trade this for anything.

Short and intense on the bike these days--quick sets of intervals or hill climbs when I can get them. Longer rides in the local canyons when the stars align.

My average ride consists of reading online about others' rides. I get out about 2.5 times a week for nothing longer than 2.5 hours and spending more time yakking in cafes with friends than in the saddle, which is fine. A few years ago, I rode five double centuries a year, going at a decent clip, and training commensurately.

Life gets in the way. Dreaming of riding doubles again......

My average ride is 5 miles in to work in the morning and 5 miles back home in the afternoon. I get a couple longer road rides in a week and some singletrack on the weekends if I'm lucky. Having a full-time job and two little kids (1 & 3) makes it hard to do tons of hours consistently, but there's no better ride than the two blocks to the park with a couple shorties in the trailer.

It's kilometres here in hilly Sydney, Australia.

A typical week is 40k on tuesday and Thursday and anywhere between 100 to 200k over the weekend.

An extra day if I am training for the alps which we do 4 day tour every november.

Cheers

Finally something I can relate to...
I've also been on this same program for several years. Fit as a fiddle or something like that.

Living is the Deep South we usually can ride year round although the dead heat of summer where we are now is toughest for me. A usual week on the road is 125-150 miles.

Intervals on Tuesday night -30 miles

Thursday afternoon ride -30 miles

Saturday morning ride - 60 miles (3 hours)

Sunday afternoon - 25-30

The mountain bike is more enjoyable here in the fall and spring. Our trails is a 10 mile loop so that is usually the norm.

Which Alps are you talking? Aussie? Is that an organized tour or something you do on your own?

This year it is the NSW Snowy Mountains, Australia. Even though we are sun drenched country we do have snow fields which is awesome riding in the summer. Nick named the "Man From Snowy River" it is put on each November by the McCarrs Creek Cycling Club. About 22 riders and some partners will be down there this year.

Up until about three years ago when health problems got in the way, I was usually riding 40-60 miles 2-3 times per week with occasional 75-85 and a few centuries a year. 30-35 quick after work rides sometimes. I was doing 4-6 thousand miles per year every year.

Now I'm averaging about 25-30 miles per ride and only a couple times per week and I doubt I'll ever keep track of annual mileage again. But I've never been happier to be riding. It's not an obsession anymore, but I love those short mile rides like never before. There's nothing like getting something back after you thought you'd lost it for good - every ride still feels like a gift...

I also forgot to mention that I sometimes sneak away for lunch rides, which is sometimes the only time of day I can ride. 45 minutes of hard intervals, wash-up in the office bathroom, back at the desk feeling good and tired.

for daily riding i like 30-50 miles with 40 being a sweet spot. I can bang it out in 2 hours, climb hills, do a bit of training, then come home. I have 2 routes, one hilly hilly and the other kinda hilly. both along rivers. life is tough:cool:

Tough to get motivated to ride and fight LA traffic (and potholes), so I hit the World Famous Rose Bowl (30 miles, 1000ft elevation gain, 27mph avg) 2x weekly. I mix that w a couple of coffee or beer rambles, topped of with one long group ride.

Try the South Bay beachs, Palos Verdes or Malibu...much nicer than the Rose Bowl...:banana::banana:
