i see that performance bike has a new product. insulated water bottles. has anyone used these? down here in south florida when i put cold water and/or ice in a bottle i get so much condensation dripping on the botton bracket (that can't be good). just wondering if the insulated bottle would prevent the condensation.

I've used the Polar Bottles for years with good results. My family likes them so much that they use them all the time and I had to buy some more so I could have them on my rides.

BTW, Nashbar (http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?sku=2507&PID=1204522) has them for a little less, but it looks like the ones on Performance are a newer design.

I live in a climate very much like yours and I have used Polar bottles for some years now. I find that they work better than regular bottles in terms of keeping the ice, but not much more so. A regular bottle would keep the ice for about a half hour, and a Polar for about one hour. However, the Polar has more capacity than the average size bottle. Of course, it is also a little heavier. If I had to choose, I'd go for the Polar, atmo.

There is also the Zefal Isotherm (http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=&subcategory=&brand=1252&sku=9216&storetype=&estoreid=&pagename=) , but it only holds 17oz compared to the 24oz of Polar. I have wondered if this does a better job than the Polar bottle, but haven't tried it to find out.

Here's a couple of reviews on the Isotherm (http://www.mtbr.com/reviews/Water_Carrier/product_86695.shtml) and according this, the Isotherm does keep stuff colder longer.

Here's another option for you. Since I, on occasion, tend to be cheap, I make a insulated waterbottle by cutting the bottom off an old sock, and wrapping that around the waterbottle. It makes quite a difference, especially if you wet the sock before you leave, and when you fill up.

That sock is also very good for wiping your hands after changing a tire.
