Here is the situation. I am planning on swapping out my Chorus Ergopower shifter system from one bike to another. Bike "A" has down-tube shifter bosses (I think that is what they are called...if not, then that is my new name for them). Anyway, bike "B", the benefactor of the Ergo swap-out, has the bosses brazed on the head tube. Can I use the same housing set-up or do I need to get a more specific version. Thanks.

personally i change inner gear wires once a year on each bike that i ride, cable casing pretty much stays unless it looks rough at the edges.
i use shimano so its easier to change ...works ok for me..every 2-3 years i replace housing.

Yes you can definitely use the same housing.
Bike "B" with the bosses on the Head Tube will require shorter housings,
so you will have to trim them.
Use a real cable cutter, use a tooth pick or something similar to re shape
the inside of your housing after cutting, this prevents restricting the
cable inside.
Some people place a short length of extra inner cable inside while
cutting housing to keep it from getting crushed

Always install new inner cables. It also saves time vs trying
to thread old frayed cable ends through all that hardwear.
