has anyone mounted tires on these
we sold some to a customer a while
ago and he was having problems with
the tires coming unseated?

Check the rim tape.

I have 7800's no problems with Michellins. Maybe try another tire. Or sell him some Campy wheels...some people need a crow bar to mount tires on those.

I have been riding WH 7801 SLs since January. I mounted Veloflex Pave's, pending a great tubless tire, and it was a mighty tight fit. Had to resort to levers.

Still tight after taking them off after stretching in use.

BTW, if your customer experiences a grabby stutter when scrubbing speed off in the turns, there have been some noted issues with some of the rims. The problem is now eliminated, so replacements are available if need be.

I don't know if they still do but Specialized tires had that problem awhile back. I think particularly if you ran higher than rated pressure.
