Ok for all out of towners the date is set for Saturday April 17 th ride departs my house to points towards Poolesville MD and back. Looks like a + 50 miler. Were contemplating a cook out afterwards and ask that the locals ( not keno , Spoke , Pete or BBDave ) bring a specialty dish to share. If you don't have a clue call us and we'll assign you a menu item , like soda's or chips etc. Sandy please bring the LOVE cake for Dave as you so kindly did for Kevan ( hey Kevan are you in ? got a bed for you ).
Again ride departs at 10:30 am and I'd like to hear from Oldmill, LenJ and Matt Barkley and other lurkers here for directions etc. We will break out into several speed groups so if you get dropped by Flydhest you can ride with Sandy and I home. Please check out the ride annoncement section of these boards and let me know if your going to make it. We'd love to show you some of our lovely state. The Captain

i'm still planning to make the trip. just make sure the weather is nice. i don't feel like doing a rain ride.
will a 12-25 cassette be acceptable for the terrain??

pbbob
03-24-2004, 05:44 PM
I'd like to do it. email me directions when you get a chance.

Sandy
03-24-2004, 06:15 PM
Spoke,

For most of us real riders, a 12-25 will do just fine. For you, I suggest a 12-45.

pbbob,

We are really fancy dancy people and usually insist upon a 79 Serotta or newer, but for you, we will make an exception.

Smiley,

I will bring the bee cake. Should it be a honey nut cake??

Sandy,
seems that Ottrott ST ownership has been good for you. your attitude is improving since you can no longer question the bike's performance. :D

Smiley
03-24-2004, 06:37 PM
contact me off-line at magoo252@comcast.net for directions and what to bring assignments for the locals. Zap you and Ms Zap coming to see Beeman !

Sandy
03-24-2004, 06:45 PM
Zap and Mrs. Zap, and Too Tall and Somewhat Shorter should all come, so that Super Fly and the Doctor will have some company up front.

Sandy and Snail Sol will attend.

Sandy
03-24-2004, 06:51 PM
Kevan,

Please let us know if you are coming so that we can paint you a red line for directions, as I know that you have great difficulty with cue sheets (not the same as a cue ball). Smiley thinks that if you leave from the ride start at 8:30, you will arrive back at the ride start at about the same time as the rest of us that will be leaving at 10:30. I think 7:30 or 8:00 would be better. What do you think?

If Smiley doesn't have room for you, you can always share my bed.........

Softly Snuggling Serotta Sandy

Sandy

To the wheel minus the hub and the rim:

I never questioned the Ottrott ST's performance. I questioned my performance. Since I got the Ottrott, the question has been answered. And you know the answer. We all know the answer.

So Subpar So Slow Still STill Serotta Sandy

I'm interested, although it'll be touch-and-go on the question whether I'm ready or not. Sorry if this is too much information, but: I'm just coming off a nasty bunch of torn ligaments in one ankle (stupid old guy indoor soccer) and after 6 weeks of nothing (a cast and no weight on the foot at all for the first few weeks), yesterday was my first clearance to gingerly try the stationary bike a little bit. 10 lousy minutes of easy and I felt like Dom DeLouise smoking a carton of cigs. Apparently, eating and cursing one's fate are an imperfect substitute for early season miles. But three weeks is three weeks, I could well be ready for 50--who knows?

Sandy

Maybe the Jerk will come and we can place bets, as to whether he can do the ride twice in the time that it takes me to do it once, or perhaps we can have even up bets with the Jerk against Too Tall and Somewhat Shorter, or against Zap and Zip (Mrs. Zap). Perhaps we can have bets on whether the Jerk can do the ride 10 times in the time that Kevan takes to do the ride once. Guess that won't work since who is going to stay around long enough to see if Kevan can even finish the route?

I will be the bookie. Send me your bets. Cash, of course. American money, please.

Smiley - Thanks for the invite - but I am booked to sell "snake oil" up at the Trexlertown Spring Swap. I would love nothing more than to ride with the Zaps(both) and TooTallsShorts Kevans, Spokes, Sandys, and more - and I'd honorarily swap out my stem for a shorter 110 - just for you Smiley, (well, and the jerko.) Have a great ride you'all! (TooTall - you are racing the next day - don't waste yerselves)
- Matt

Social creature that I am it is hard to resist at least showing up to say hi. My opinion is the lot of yez should ride out to Potomac via the usual roads and than Falls Rd > McArthur Ave...stop at Starbucks and L. on Reservoir Rd. to P. Street and than see the Cherry Blossoms...return via Adam's Morgan...stop at Jolt n' bolt...and return via Rock Creek. Same mileage, 2+ coffee stops AND DC's finest sights.

Sunday is my teams signature event. Carl Dolan Mem. Race. Come on out and watch me puke. Better yet come road guard and watch a bunch of folks puking. It is a good cause. $$'s in support of a teammate who perished from heat prostration at a race.

Zap , if you don't ride you can have Ms Zap bring ( home made) Cheese Cake and attend the Hotennany afterwards.
And yes its starting to look like a Bee's Nest party

anybody want to do a weekday apres work ride with me and Dave on Beach Drive ??
Also its time to start to RSVP if we have not heard from you. I assume Spoke, Keno, csb and VaRider are coming. Plus we have the usual suspects that we round up when we have dignitaries from out of town .
Hey Kevan , have you not sucked up to Mrs Kevan yet to ?

Kevan
04-08-2004, 10:48 AM
but it looks like I'm in.

You gotta pesky fly crashing da Bee's par-taa!

I probably should reread this thread, but what's the dealeo? Arrive Fri nite/Sat a.m.? Ride Saturday the 17, late morning? Anything the 18th, or will you have had your fill of me by then?

My creme brulee doesn't travel too well, but I can bring some suds or other...

Details can be taken off-line.

Kevan , arrive Friday nite as Keno will be here then , maybe we can get all of the out of towners along with BBDave and daughter to dine at Faryabs an Afgan mid eastern spot we have eaten at before. We'll make your bed and yes by all means if you stay over for Sunday and want to ride we're good to go as the Sailing Vessel has not had the bottom painted yet or I'd suggest a day of sailing. Have you touched base with csb as he's driving down from your area as well as Keno too. Why can't you guys car down together , you got the Volvo and it can handle a few bikes right ?

Kevan
04-08-2004, 12:20 PM
I don't think my Volvo can handle a hanging rear rack, tailgate-top is all glass. I could pop off bike wheels which would make room for 2 bikes and 2 souls only, unless we start stacking, which gets ugly

Certainly I'm game for any buddying-up.
