Is this angle from spoke to nipple to harsh. It's a 3x and seems to be way more pronounced than usual maybe due to the nipple size. Harmful? Ok? Suggestions?http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07/03/03a1873829cefa1f02d975b9768fe0c3.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07/03/564fe3fb5fd46baaa978fe7edab9db83.jpg

I'd say so, high flange, deep carbon, I think 2 cross would be better.

Yeah, that's not going to last at all. Best to take it apart. It will quickly break at those bends.

certain rims are drilled in a manner that requires a certain lacing.

Carbon rims tend to be the worst offenders of this.

Agree, particularly deep carbon as the drilling machine can't be set at a proper angle for the nipple, like an aluminum, less deep, rim.

The diameter of the rim AT THE SPOKE BED combined with the hub flange diameter, as well as the number of spokes, will dictate the number of crosses you can get away with before you run into problems.

That wheel has run into problems.

The reasons I'd rebuild the wheel NOW are first, the sharp bend is so close to the nipples you may have trouble tightening spokes as the nipple may run up against the bend.

Second, the spoke holes in the hub will deform under tension and conform to the spoke elbow. That's a good thing. But they'll do that in a 3x configuration. If you wait to rebuild the wheel with fewer crosses, the metal grain will already have taken a "set". When you change the lacing pattern, you'll create stress risers that can cause cracks in the hub flange.

If that is a front wheel and the hubs allow it you may want to go radial.

Definitely a good call on rebuilding. Looks like a cool build, though!
