Just came across a handful of tires (Conti and Vittoria) that I had stored in a plastic storage bin. Probably 3-4 years old or so. They seem fine, sidewalls not crumbly/crunchy. Presume no issues in keeping & using them? No idea what the rule of thumb is on this one, other than inspecting and making sure things are kosher before using.

If they unfold okay, the folds flatten out okay, and the bead wrap hasn't pulled away I'd say you're good to go on your NOS 'Belgian stylee aged tyres'. Congratulations.

I've had tyres last over 20 years in good storage conditions.

I ended up with a stockpile of clinchers a number of years ago. I've ridden some that were 5+ years old without issue, I can't tell the veloflex tires for new. well, besides the old label.

I would say some of it is storage. Just a year in a Midwestern garage (extreme temp swings) seems to age a tire faster than multiple years in my basement closet.

they last much longer than you would actually want to use them

I once had some Conti clinchers I bought in 2006. I stopped riding until 2010, when I mounted them up with no issues. You're good to go.
