I am going to get some s-works shoes but now that they have the 2016 models out I will wait for those late summer.

However, mine really need to be replaced now and I don’t mind having a back up pair.

I was thinking about just getting some Specialized Expert level since that is what I have been using for some years.

If you guys like a level but still good performing shoe let me know.

I have a pair as my "bad weather" and indoor shoes.

They fit/feel fine

If you want to dabble in Shimano I find the mid range 171 to be a great shoe.

R170/R171; really a good shoe for the price.

If you wear 46 just buy the s works now and then sell them to me at the end of the summer when the 2016 come out. ;)

Funny I do.

The Spec "Expert" shoe is a very good shoe, although I would seriously look at the Shimano R171 as mentioned above. These are routinely on sale in the $150 range and they don't have much in the way of shortcomings with regards to a cycling shoe.

I think I will give the Shimano shoe a try. Price is good for sure.

Funny I do.

Shoot me a PM if you want to propose a buyout plan that gets you down to recoup the difference between the fancy shoes and whatever you're looking at now.

Last years GIRO Factor is a sweet shoe, and on sale everywhere right now.

I have some budget giro mtn shoes (Giro Carbide), they were like $80 and I really like them so I am sure the road equivalent (Giro Treble) is probably a pretty decent shoe.

I do have to say though, look around because I got my Giro Empire ACC for $100 new on ebay (yes I definitely got lucky but it can happen again)

I have some GIRO Guage MTB shoes that I purchased for $80 on close out. They are comfortable and come with three different inserts dependent on arch support required. The Giro’s compare favorably to my Sidi Genius 5 road shoes.

Thanks you guys. I have read good things about Giro shoes.

Best value in shoes would be the ones that fit and function no matter the price.

Absolutely correct, if shoes end up as a bad fit then you have to find new ones.

The best value shoes are ones that have all velcro straps instead of a ratchet strap.

Thanks and I feel the same way.

As with many other types of bike gear, though, finding the shoe that fits is made really difficult by the fact bike stores stock little variety, and it's hard to try on shoes online.
