I'm looking to change my 9 speed Shimano St-6500 set-up to 10 speed ST-6600.

Are the hoods or spacing the same so that I could if I wanted to only get the Right/Rear shifter the feel(?) would be the same as
my old shifter or would it be off or unbalnaced or simple feel different one hand to the other? Hopefully I am making myself clear.

FYI, Yes I know I can change both, but just wanted an idea.

Thanks Rob

They don't feel the same at all.

Very, very different. Similar to the differences between DA 7700 and DA 7800.

6500 is short and fat, 6600 is long and skinny.

If you are limited to 10 speed due to hubs I'd look for a set of 6700 levers. I really like that shape more than either the 65/6600 versions having used all three. They also look a lot cleaner without the external cable routing.
