repair or replace?

figure it wil cost at the minimum $200 to replace just replace the bottom tube. (Maybe more...any framebuilders care to guess?)

paint...anywhere from $75 (autobody powder coat) to gazillion dollars (JB Molteni replica)

bought the frame on eBay for $250 (bottom bracket was chamfered for a Mavic bb. i think that scared people off.)

John,
Tell manet for me that he should see "Hell on Wheels." It's a good movie. He'd like it.

I'm sorry for your crash. The down tube can easily be replaced. Is it lugged or tig. $200 would be on the high side for the cost to replace it but it's not far off. If TK is in your neighborhood then take it to him. They will do a fine job and it will save on shipping. Good luck.

Thanks Curt.
Lugged.

The advantage of visiting TK,if I take a Friday afternoon off, is that I can add a trip to the Trexlertown Velodrome. Took my son a few years ago and we both had a fabulous time. Marty Nothstein signed Josh's program and showed him his bike. Very gracious.

If only I had crashed last week. Could have combined it with the swap meet. Altough it poured.

Anyone go?

If there is a next time and we hope there isn't try my idea.

While drafting a bus up 1st Avenue the the 50's in NYC feeling like a hotshot and thinking how cool I must look I found out that buses stop faster than bikes. When I realized I wouldn't quite stop and faced with the prospect of a destroyed front wheel at the least, frame destroyed at the most (carbon fiber), I stood up leaned way over and let my helmet take the hit. :crap:

Well it worked... :p

Too much going on to deal with repairing this.
Anone want it? All I ask is that you pick it up (upper west side of manhattan) and reimburse me $40 for the mavic BB & headset.

Either a 60 or 59. (I'll check later)

A pic of the built up bike (before) can be seen here:
