Does anyone make a reasonably priced, non-suspension corrected 29er?

That's a hard nut to crack since even if a frame/bike comes rigid, it's usually already suspension corrected. Only options I can think of would be custom.

The Singular Gryphon is designed for use with drop bars and rigid fork.

That's what I would recommend as well.

Duh...Fargo or new Cutthroat

So far I'm liking the looks of the cut throat. Not the price so much, I think I saw frame/fork is 1900?

The Cutthroat frameset will list at $1999. Both it and the Fargo are suspension corrected frames.

I love my Salsa Mukluk, but Salsa as a brand has completely lost me. (rant mode engaged) The Cutthroat is dumb. Its a bike built purely for the toughest off-road race on earth, yet it's made of carbon fiber with a PressFit BB. No alternator dropouts for SS "limp home" mode either? It strikes me as a bike designed for dentists and lawyers who dream of adventure but will never actually try it. I hope JayP kicks butt and tops his Tour Divide record on it, but I'd be willing to bet the Salsa support crew has an identical bike sitting in a truck along the route just in case, a luxury most riders on the course won't have.

As for the Gryphon, that might work...I'll have to do some more research.

Maybe just dentists.

No self-respecting lawyer dreaming of adventure would ever consider riding an off-road bike without suspension. Drop bars and rigid is so "non-range rover."

How big of a tire do you need?

Soma Wolverine or Dean TransAlp.

Well that's a fine question. I have a fixed gear "road" bike with 32's, a mountain bike with 650bx2.4, and a mountain/fat bike with 26x4.8's.

I want a new commuter that is fun on the road, can hop curbs when needed and maybe take smooth single track shortcuts or gravel on the way home. So I really don't need anything wider than a 44c or so. It also can't be too nice so I wouldn't want to leave it locked up outside.

I just sold myself on a BMC Monster cross didn't I? :)

Would one of Rivendell's models work for you? They have lots of experience with drop bar bikes that accept fat tires and offer advice on converting rigid 26" mtn. bikes to drop bars using their Nitto "Dirt Drop" stem.

Most Rivendells would work for me, they are on my dream bike list for sure. I worry they aren't responsive enough for my wishes though. My main commuter now is set up very "Riv-ish" and I love it...however it's slow. I want the perfect balance between usefulness and get up and go, without spending a ton of money.

Current commuter that is on the chopping block:

Pretty sure you just did. Word is, they'll soon be available with disc tabs if that tickles your fancy.

I don't "get" the Cutthroat.

I'll stick with my Fargo. It's an absolute go just about anywhere tank.

Comfy too.

Maybe.

Or a BMC (the actual BMC) GF02 Disc.

"I don't "get" the Cutthroat."

Me too. The direct mount rear derailleur, press fit bottom bracket, and a frame material which can't be field repaired if broken would rule it out for me. It's an interesting bike but too Tour Divide specific for the masses.

Singular Gryphon. Ticks those boxes. Much preferred the ride over fargo; very versatile frame with the EBB.

I think both the Fargo and Cutthroat have their place. One thing is that the Fargo IS a tank. That is both good and bad depending on your goals.

And this field repaired stuff is a joke for everyone but literally a handful of people on this planet. The number of times where a "field repair" is necessary and actually feasible no matter what the material is EXTREMELY remote.

A cross check?

I guess they are really a 28er

I really hate suspension corrected rigid forks

They look so dumb.

(Btw, got this one from Kirk007, and I like it a lot. Though, as you can tell from the photo, it's a size too large for me...)

No CrossChecks. Great bikes, but the headtube is too short and it doesn't have the liveliness I'm seeking. I've already owned one, and currently have 2 other Surly bikes (Steamroller and Big Dummy). The suspension corrected rigid fork dumb look is exactly why I want what I want. Fat tires and fenders without big gaps!

I'm not sure exactly what tire you plan on running (or how much you want to spend), but the Co-Motion Klatch can fit a decent sized tire. I have one built up and am using Clement MSO in 40c, and have room to spare. I'm sure I could fit a Bruce Gordon Rock n Road 43c and still have room for a bit of mud clearance. I've yet to take it on single track, but it's been sublime on gravel thus far (though I don't have a lot of miles on it yet, as I'm slowly recovering from an injury).

Edit: Just realized you wanted fenders. No fender mounts on the Klatch, though it does have rear rack mounts.

I have an older Salsa Fargo that I use for commuting (fat Schwalbe Big Apples on there). The Gen 1 is non-suspension corrected I believe. The newer models mostly come with rigid forks and look nice. I like my 1st gen enough that I have avoided upgrade-itis. The new Soma Wolverine tempted me though. The Fargo does fine on AZ mtb trails although the brakes are not as good as on my other MTBs.

Update, JayP's Cutthroat BB failed on the tour divide, he rode 250 miles with it making noise and rattling and is still in the hopes that a local shop can service it.

I'm still shopping, trying to be patient with my options!

Co-Motion Pangea is more in line with the OP's requirements.
