I wish to change out my current 10 speed Sram Red rear derailleur to the WiFli medium cage model to allow me to use a 12-32 cassette. I've read that Sram had a product recall several years ago effecting the 10 speed Red WiFli rear derailleur.

Since I don't know the status of exisiting 10 speed derailleurs in the market, I'm considering moving up to the current 11 speed model. My understanding is that the shifters control the amount of cable pulled regardless of the rear derailleur, so can I just use a new 11 speed model?

Anyone have any info on this or on the Sram product withdrawal ?

My guess is yes.

But the jockey wheels, chain, and dérailleur cage are probably set for 11 speed so an 11 speed chain would be required.

Yes it will but a 11s chain is not required.
