View Full Version : One or two new Paceline caps?

Walz gave me the thumbsup on their ability to produce both cap designs. I need to gauge the interest level in each. So vote in the poll. You can select as many options as you like. If we can get at least 25 caps in either or both styles, I will have them both made. If there is less than 25, then that cap is out and we will have only one style, the Molteni.

So get to voting.

I prefer the tutti fruitti with the black side panel, but I will still buy it with white.

Actually, I prefer the colors I picked on the alternate version but you can't win them all :)

I appreciate the time you and Nate spent on this.

Depends on quantity, but figure $23-26 each shipped

Molteni is a handsome cap. Nice. Trying to decide if I want two...it's so nice. And its Giants colors . Got a small head though so gun shy.

On and I'm down with a cool summer cap.

I will definitely take one Molteni cap in black; if they can do white also, I'll take one of each. Probably skip the tutti frutti, but if they can get a Mapei-like material, I'd do that, too.

Molteni is a go. If we get to 50, the price drops about $2/cap.

We still need a few more on the Tutti Frutti.

I will leave this up until Wed/Thurs.

I don't really 'get' the tuttifrutti cap.. is that some obscure team kit, or is it just to patch the paceline jerseys (which I've never seen, but saw someone reference)?

How did we end up with a cap based on that frame and not one based on the 7-Eleven colors?? :p

I'm in for a Molteni.

Does this go to benefit the forum or is it strictly to cover costs?

It matches a new frame of mine (not the Merckx). I just like the colors.

I've seen reference to the white/worlds Molteni cap... was that on the table at some point? It's moving away from coinciding with board colors - but would still be pimp. And a lot cooler under the muy caliente summer sun

Jersey's are someone else department. I only do caps.

I might be talked into doing some matching Paceline socks to go with caps but the minimums are way higher on socks, like 10-12 dozen pairs.

Any of this schwag is doable. I have good suppliers for most anything like that.

It's just a matter of meeting minimums and funding the initial purchase.

I can do a quantity <25, but the price goes up another $1-2/cap.

The biggest price breaks come at 25 and 50 caps.

Jeez - it's not like JMoore is going to buy a bigger house or a Porsche even if he did pocket any cash ($100 at most). MattTuck, don't forget all of the time he has spent organizing all this effort. He's got to deal with the vendor, collect everyone's money, inspect and accept the shipment, and sort the orders, stuff envelopes, and mail the caps to everyone. I plan to buy him lunch this at Dallas' best bbq joint.

Here is what we are looking at as far as pricing goes. The quantities are such that we barely squeeked into the 25 cap count for the TF so that saved everyone $1. We'd need to get to 100 caps to drop the price on the Molteni. So these prices are pretty much set.

Molteni - $23.00 each
Tutti Frutti - $24.50 each

These prices are all in and include CONUS shipping, $2/cap donation to the site, one of each cap for Nate for doing the design, all shipping supplies (envelopes, labels, etc.) and PayPal fees. There is also a tiny bit of padding built in to cover any unforeseen items.

This whole process will work just like last time. In the next few days I will setup another page on my website and everyone can order and pay there. It will be a Paypal shopping cart. Since I can front the cash for 90+ caps, everyone will have to pay up front and I'll ship once received.

Alright kids, it's been mentioned before, but I vote we go with moisture wicking fabric on the Tutti Frutti cap. It seems to fit the style and would provide a nice alternative to the classic cotton cap.

I have a Walz wicking cap. It's high quality and comfortable, etc. They are just not my cup of tea. Too light. That said, most everyone else I know who has one loves them so order with confidence.

Keith gave the thumbs up for the swap on the TF cap. Looks like most people are OK with it, so I will make sure it's submitted to Walz that way. We MIGHT be able to keep the price the same on the TF. At most it will be an extra $1.

Once I get the final designs approved and cost estimates, I'll put up the order page and start taking payments.
