Yeah just a couple of weeks ago I ordered a Tektro long reach brakeset. Shipped fast, no problems at all.

Yes. As recently as a few weeks ago.

Bob's a bit gruff over the phone, but other than that they have been great. A good selection of older stuff, fast shipping, etc.

I have ordered a few times from them with no issues. I have only ordered using the phone.

A Louis stated, one of the guys there can sometimes be a little curt on the phone, but they provide prompt shipping and will also do special orders. I have ordered the Dead 215 in shallow drop a number of times from them (it wasn't something they kept in stock). I too have only placed phone orders and haven't used their on-line checkout. I wouldn't hesitate in ordering from them again.

I ordered a set of pedals from them a few weeks ago. Like the others, I got prompt service.

William -- It is an odd name for a online retailer, but the owner's last name is Lickton.

Yes, definitely. Fast, they matched the lowest price I could find, and I'd be perfectly happy to order from them again. Note, Lickton's is one of the oldest mail order bicycle parts suppliers out there. Back over 30 years ago, they used to be called Lickton's Cycle Circus, I think. You've got to be got to survive since the Dawn-O-Time.

That's an understatement...

But, yes, they are honest, relaible, fast and relatively cheap.

Good luck!

have ordered a few times (got a lot of components from them when I built up my last road bike) -- they know their (roadie) stuff and have a price matching policy too. service has been prompt.

Ride on!

it's better if you go straight to the source:

I just registered so this is a 2-yr late reply.
I ordered a Record seatpost and had no problems: immediate shipment and timely arrival plus unbeatable price !
Just don't have the misfortune of talking to Bob, he's probably the owner Robert Lickton which may explain his liberty in being a jackass over the phone.
Bill however is the exact opposite - very accomodating and willingly informative. In resonance with Louis, Keith A, and Socal Steve - gruff is a gross understatement.

I've only ordered online but have had no problems. Shipping is lightning quick as it's probably 20 miles from my house.

I did an online order late last year for two 25mm Krylions when they were on sale for $31 a tire. They were on back order for a little while, to make good they offered to give me 2 Pro Race 2 25mm tires for that price. At the time that was about $46 savings over what those tires go for at full retail. I don't know who I talked with, but he called me when they could not get the original tires in and was very apologetic and nice. I have ordered since with no problems.

Bill is probably the best salesperson I have ever talked to on the phone --told me all about his Waterford and advised me to not buy an expensive gizmo that I had planned to. Because of Bill I spent ~2 grand there before I finally found a real LBS within reasonable driving distance.

kenoThat was an ATMO-joke I believe.

I've ordered from Lickton's and it was smooth, would do so again. I'd rather order from him than from P. White any day of the week.

LewI've spoken with his wife as well, she has always been very helpful and it has always been a pleasure dealing with her. Plenty of people have good things to say about the gentleman, I only have my experience to go by. Maybe I've always caught him on bad days when I've called in an order, who knows.

When I was staying in Oak Park on business a few weeks ago I stopped by the shop to check it out. The Owner was doing paperwork or something at the counter, he never once looked up, 2 women were working on computers next to him and another guy came out and greeted me and answered my questions. I have ordered from them in the past but the last few times I've called there the phone has been busy several times in a row so I ordered elsewhere. They were cordial but it's an internet catalog store, not a bike shop and I felt they wanted me out as fast as possible! I asked about a blue Waterford in the window but I was informed it was not for sale. I asked if they had a business card that I could take back to Virginia or a catalog, they said they didn't. I left.

Peter has a back with arthritus. I'm sure the pain can color his disposition.

I used to order from Lickton's a fair amount. In the relatively early days of the web, or a least before it was as ubiquitous as now (mid to late '90s), I had a real jerk of a co-worker who had it in for me and got on my computer one day and decided I was using my office computer for nefarious purposes. I was meeting with our common boss and this fool barges in and says, Hey, look at this crap Ray has on his computer. I questioned him and he walked us back over and on my list of favorites, among various work and non-work related sites were two bookmarks that aroused his suspicions. One was "lickbike" the other was "wunderground" and he was sure they were porn sites!

I said, go ahead, idiot, click on them. Well, you all know what lickbike is. Wunderground is a weather page called the Weather Underground. My boss just started laughing as what a prick this guy was. I don't think he lasted more than another month or two there.

Anyway, no problems with lickbike except their pornographic website

I have dealt with Peter and his wife many times over the years.

While Peter will not be writing any books on diplomacy (but then for that matter neither will I,) he is a very sincere, straight forward, and honest person. HE also knows his stuff about bikes.

Pete, to the contrary you are the king of diplomats, and as always thank you for all you do.

I knew I was opening a can of worms when I started thinking aloud about cranky people I have ordered from over the telephone...but based on your input I will try again when the need arises, as I am sure it will soon. Hopefully it will work out better next time.

Ordered a Deda bar and stem on-line from them on July 3rd before reading this thread.
Hadn't gotten an e-mail confirmation from them by yesterday afternoon.
Having read this thread I was dreading calling them since a bad attitude can really bring MINE out, but to my surprise got ahold of a guy named Dennis and couldn't have had a better experience.
Bars are back ordered until today and they should be here shortly.

I've ordered from them a bunch recently. Easier to give them a call than to use their website in my opinion. The personal service and prices are great. I highly recommend them. Great selection os Assos gear.
