Hi all,

If I have an 11 speed DT-Swiss freehub and want to use a 10 speed cassette, can I do that with a spacer?

My CK R45 11 speed hub came with a spacer so you can use either 10 speed or 11 speed cassettes. Will this spacer work for a DT-Swiss freehub as well?

As always, thank you all in advance!

Steve

I've been told, but have not yet put to the test, that you can use two 10-speed spacers.

Is this because the DT-Swiss freehub requires that you use one spacer when with a Shimano cassette anyway? So, a second one would be needed to go down to 10 speed?

I think the 11-speed cassette is just that much bigger

For Chris King hubs one spacer is all that is needed (supplied). Why would the DT-Swiss be different?

Old Spud, please chime in!!!

How wide is your ck spacer? It's it is 2.85mm, it's all you need.

DT freehubs do not require spacers if you run a 10 speed cassette on a 10 speed freehub, or 11 on 11. If you run 10 on 11 though, you will need a spacer, just one large enough to bump the cassette out far enough that the lockring doesn't bottom out. It will likely be the same spec as the supplied r45 spacer.

The 11 speed is more than 1 spacer width wider than 10-speed.... hence, it doesn't work on 8/9/10 freehubs. 8/9/10 required a spacer to work with 10-s cassettes, and 11 speed is even bigger still.

I'll bet the big ass Mavic 10-speed spacer is perfect

What he said...about 2.8mm spacer when using a 10s shimano cogset onto a DT 11s FH....and if shimano 10s, need the supplied shimano 10s 1mm spacer also.

Too bad it's so complicated...like with Campagnolo. 9/10/11s Freehub/ hub, just put the dern thing on...no extra spacers or such.

Is this a pitch for all things Campagnolo....yes It Is

Just measured...between the CK spacer (1.8 ) and the Shimano 10s 1mm spacer, looks like I have it covered. Unless my 57 year old eyesight failed me ( which is quite possible ) that's pretty darn tiny!!!

Wait, just re read your posting..I need yet another 1mm spacer? 3.8 altogether???

Just pop the spacers on and put the cassette on. If the lock ring does not bottom out then you are good to go. Trial and error good sir, trial and error. :)

Tying on phone. Need the just shy of 2mm spacer, add 1mm spacer for shimano 10s cogset, onto any shimano 11s compatible FH body.
