Great now we have to wear bullet proof vests and Kevlar helmets when we ride?
Poor guy, just Riding his bike home from work. Warm wishes and condolences to his family.

The local police have asked for FBI assistance. That's a good call.

http://www.9news.com/story/news/crime/2015/05/19/windsor-bicyclist-shooting/27582625/

There have been multiple reports of car windows being shot out over the last few weeks. Another report of a lady shot in the neck while driving in the area. They don't know if the incidents are related.

Crazy people + guns = a bad mix

Given that in court "a well regulated militia" is apparently indistinguishable from a raving lunatic, stuff like this will happen.

I just can't believe its legal to murder people in this craY country. If only we just had a law against it, things like this would never happen.

Exactly, if we made owning guns illegal no one would ever die again!

It's disappointing we don't have a "stir the pot" emoticon.

Right? Thank you.

If we keep it classy, maybe we can continue to discuss developments in the case. This is local to me. Shooter may be à serial perpetrator. Not about politics, so don't bring it here.

I don't think we have any info to suggest this was motivated because the victim was a cyclist. It could have been a murder in cold blood, it could have been pre-meditated against this individual, who knows.

It is tragic, but I don't think it is indicative of a real threat to us on the road anymore than a runner who is gunned down should send the running community into a panic.

When we get more facts, I'll reassess.

That's exactly it. This sounds like an opportunist. The gentleman on the bike just happened to be an easy target in the wrong place at the wrong time. This is a shame. I hope this person is caught soon.

May or may not be the case, but road rage is always a question. Lesson is, don't retaliate, blowing off steam could result in something to ruin your day.

Sounds like he was riding a mountain bike pulling a trailer full of gardening tools....? Makes run-of-the-mill road rage seem less likely (than if he was a "spandex wearing fag" on a road bike)

Reminds me of how anxious things were living in the DC area in 2002 during the "sniper" attacks. Nervous, tense days.

Here's to hoping for a quick resolution to the situation.

What a terrible loss.

A little too local for me since one of my standard rides goes within 10 miles of where that guy was shot. I'm guessing I'll be riding over towards Boulder until they figure this thing out.

I looked but didn't find a map with all the recent shootings so I threw one together. The one just north of Mead is exactly where I ride.

Yes.

Assuming it's just one guy (99.999999% chance it's not a woman) I think it's safe to say that they'll get him eventually. We can only hope it doesn't take too long.

Have the police said anything about whether it's been the same weapon for any of these?

The one near Mead was the cop van transporting inmates. The woman who got shot was near the Windsor exit of I25. I live just to the right of the d in Broomfield on the map and use the I25 frontage road up by Mead quite often as a north/south cycling route. I'm thinking it's time to investigate more westerly routes from where I live. If it ever stops raining maybe I'll buzz over and hit the Wall.

Not to make fun of a terrible situation, but there's a town up there called "Aristocrat Ranchettes?" That's nuts! I've been to Boulder several times, have visited relatives in Broomfleld / Westminster, and driven around the area some, but I've never heard of Aristocrat Ranchettes!

I've never heard of it and never even noticed it on the google map I posted. Now you've made me curious.

Article mentions "over gassing". Is this another term for when the diesels 'roll coal'?

Scuzzer

Looks like it's a census-designated place, so not a town. I wonder who came up with that name for that area? Not somewhere that I'd associate with the word aristocrat.
