Looks like the "lord" of english time trialing might not be quite as sharp as he claims...

He's best at longer TTs, anyway. I do love him showing up to a club TT in any case.

giving up 38 seconds in 16K tells me it wasnt a full-monty effort. interested to see his splits.

gamesmanship, perhaps?

Looks like was done in the road not in a track... 38 secs between a guy that went to the hour and the other that tested 10 kms?? well... depends a lot of many things, you never go full gas while training and probably wiggo went measured himself...

We wont know till the attempt is actually done in the track in june.

The courses are some 3 hours apart and Dowsett rode his event
over a year ago. That's hardly an apples to apples comparison.

ps

arrange disorder

Dowsett has probably gotten faster since then, but...

Not surprising if it is on an unclosed roads with the variables of traffic, also the different courses vary.
What the UK needs is a 10 mile straight line cycle track for time trials, separate from a regular road.

Dowsett's time would equal a speed of almost 39.5 MPH - unbelievable.

This means nothing, different courses, different conditions etc. No doubt he has the engine but from an eyeball wind tunnel, I would say he needs some positioning work. His chest cavity is pretty exposed and his head is too high. For TT greatness you master the three P's- power, pacing and position.

Cycling Weakly did an interview with Wiggin's minute man. It was a pretty fun one....

Wiggins won the World Championship Time Trial last year.

Do you really think that an eyeball wind tunnel is going to improve on Sky's actual wind tunnel testing?

But yeah, maybe with a little work he can achieve TT greatness.

This TT was run just a few miles from where I grew up, it can be pretty hilly around that area as it is on the banks of the Humber river. Did he manage to catch his minute man?!? I'll ask my Dad if he sees someone riding around the lanes in a team Wiggo kit to mention his chest cavity is a little exposed!

Agreed. Didn't think he gave it full effort on this run.

That's just nutty. That's supersonic fast for that long of a period. Agree with Soky, it's just unbelievable.
