Challenge is no doubt a good name for it. And it's in Oct, I can't imagine that the weather will be at its best.

The 318 Sichuan-Tibet Highway is the lifeline between the east and the west allowing supplies to reach Tibet.

The race will require the riders to ride 10 consecutive stages in 10 days to cover 2,000km (1243mi) at an average altitude of 4,000m (13,123ft).

14 HC passes with an average altitude of 4,600m (15,092ft) and a cumulative climbing of 50,000m (164,062ft)http://www.tibetchallenge.com/en/index.html

October is in fact the period of the year where the weather is most stable in that region. Monsoon should be over, winter not there yet. Most treks in the himalaya region happen either in May (pre-monsoon) or october, and in october days are usually clear, sunny and surprisingly warm, even at 4000m elevation.

Friends/clubmates of mine rode the "mongolian challenge" a few years ago. Experience of a lifetime, they said :) It is not for people who require a western level of commodity, or who are not open-minded towards foreign cultures, levels of hygiene, or food, though.

I would have never guessed that was the case.Friends/clubmates of mine rode the "mongolian challenge" a few years ago.
