Why Austria when he lives in Portland?

Why Austria when he lives in Portland?

I don't know if he has/had a second home in Portland, but he has been based in Vienna for the past several decades, and that is where the collection has resided ever since he started it, with the exception of the subset that made an appearance in Portland.

Between this development, the OR Manifest bike for sale, and the Speedvagen, my resolve not to add to my collection or buy any more "daily" riders is being severely tested.

Seems like this thread should be a PSA in the Classifieds forum - given the crowd here, I wouldn't be at all surprised if one or more Paceliners bid....!

If anyone is curious to see what the individual bikes sold for, here are the complete auction results (http://www.dorotheum.com/en/auctions/auction-dates/current-auctions/kataloge/list-lots/auktion/11198-bicycles-from-the-embacher-collection.html?obj=200&sort=priceDesc).

Overall, I expected higher prices. On an individual basis, most went for slightly less than I would have guessed, but some sold for more. 5 items appear to have garnered no bids at all.

Total realized price of the collection was about $400,000. The highest bid item was the ALEX MOULTON /One Off Moulton Special (http://www.dorotheum.com/en/auctions/auction-dates/current-auctions/kataloge/list-lots-detail/auktion/11198-bicycles-from-the-embacher-collection/lotID/31/lot/1872726-alex-moulton-one-off-moulton-special.html?obj=200) at $33,500 USD. Second highest bid item was the F. MOSER Hour Record Replica (http://www.dorotheum.com/en/auctions/auction-dates/current-auctions/kataloge/list-lots-detail/auktion/11198-bicycles-from-the-embacher-collection/lotID/27/lot/1872722-f-moser-hour-record-replica.html?obj=200) at $21,000 USD.
