Been trying to get used to the huge reach of the noodle (stem length/seat post set back) but it's not working.
I've been looking for a silver 26.0 compact bar wider than 44cm, but they don't seem all that common. I'd love to give soma's hwy 1 a shot, but they're non-existent near as I can tell.

Any suggestions?

Are Hwy 1s measured outside to outside ? I see a few sellers offering 46s.

I believe center to center. Where are you seeing compact 46cm in 26.0?

BikeMania (http://www.bikemania.biz/soma-fabrications-hwy-one-road-handlebars.html), Soma store (http://store.somafab.com/hwyonebar.html) are the first two that pop up when Googled.

That sucks, sorry about that. I took the BikeMania link all the way to the end of checkout and it never indicated out of stock.

I called them and sure enough they're out. Most likely be indicated shortly on the website. Thanks just the same though!

Looking for something with ~20mm shorter reach. Thoughts?

Cinelli doesn't seem to list the reach on these bars. I also don't see anything wider than 44cm. I'll do some investigating. Thanks for the lead!

I think I'd rather give Soma's HWY 1 in 44cm a try before I went that narrow. Thanks just the same!

Everything I saw from Nitto is going to offer is going to be shorter than 95mm....like others, I was going to look up Cinelli but their website froze up on me.

found something from VO with shorter drop but max width is 44cm.

might want to post a WTB or look on eBay if you don't mind something used.

I might just have to go with 44. I've been watching eBay for a few months now with no such luck. Maybe a wtb add....

Have you asked the retailers when a 46 might be back in stock ? SJSCycles (http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/soma-highway-1-drop-bars-318-mm-clamp-prod28239/?geoc=us)(in the UK) lists an end of May restock.

A few of them said they'd drop an email. Was thinking a good time to share a beer or three with my lbs see what they can come up with.

Tandem stoker bars need to be wide to clear the captain rider's hips, so if you want really wide, there are some in 48cm- look at the Tandems East site for example.

How badly do you want them to be silver?

I've got some Bontrager "anatomic"-bend 46's in black that I'd sell outright.

These guys might have one. They at least let me put one in my cart, but I didn't try to check out beyond that:
http://www.bikemania.biz/soma-fabrications-hwy-one-road-handlebars.html

If you're 100% set on silver, I've got a set of the Soma Highway 1's that are earmarked for a future build. If you're on a time crunch and are able to hear back from someone when they'll be back in stock, I might be willing to sell you mine. Caveat is that I really want to be sure that they'll be available again at some point relatively soon and not discontinued.

Wow! They actually exist. Hope is rekindled.

Bike mania is out (see above).

I have a black bar on there now and dislike it a lot. Going to be patient and keep looking. I have another silverish bar I can ride in the meantime.

Soma isn't very helpful to consumers(at least this consumer); hoping a lbs might get an answer as to whether they'll be producing more.

You really should keep your set....thanks so much for the kind offer!

Great idea! Looks like tandems east has the one 26.0 option. There must be others.

New searches await clicking. Thank you.

If it's the right size and shape, just strip the finish and polish it.

I just read the following on the V-O blog (http://velo-orange.blogspot.com/2015/05/this-and-that.html):

"...the super popular Dajia Shallow Drop bars (http://store.velo-orange.com/index.php/components/handlebars/dajia-cycleworks-short-and-shallow-handlebar.html)will soon be available in 46cm size."

Yes! These look like they come out of the same soma line. I may be flush with options soon.

Any luck on your crank quest? Or info. about road eno and vbc differences? There's a 180 eno on eBay right now.

Q-factor of VBC Road is 150mm while ENO is 160mm, both with 113mm BB. I'm holding out for the Road and going to try a 110mm BB. Sold a few things in the classified so I may just buy new. Just have to settle on tooth count (44-28 at this time).

If you like the shape and size of the bars you have now, oven cleaner will take off black anodizing. That said, I really like the shape of the 46cm Soma Hwy bars.

I believe the Dedas are measured outside-to-outside, while the Somas are measured center-to-center. If so, the Dedas are a cm or two narrower.

Not sure if they're still available, but I got silver 46cm/26.0 Deda 215 bars for my commuter bike a few years ago.

Cinelli has some 26.0 bars out there in a 46 c-c but they are hard to find
also look at the Nitto noodle bars not compact but a great shape.

I've got both 46cm noodles and 44cm Hwy1s. I've had a couple of compact bars and the Hwy1s have a very nice drop section and they're long enough, unlike my Deda compact bars which I wish had a little longer drops.

The reach on the Hwy1s are almost too short and resting your hands on the approach, behind the brake levers, is pretty cramped and takes some getting used to it. The reach on the noodles aren't as long as they look because the tops of the bars sweep back. Even so, the noodles are not a short reach bar.

I'm switching many of my bikes over to the Hwy1 just because of age-induced bendability on my part. And the nice drops. (Implied availability of 46cm noodles.)

When living in Europe, I bought a Nitto 46cm c-c from a German mail order company. I cannot remember the name of the shop. They are classic bend, so quite deep - not compact at all. They are heat treated due to the width, apparently.

HOWEVER . . . . I am considering selling mine, as I just never use the bike anymore and would like to cost recover. I paid about $90 and they've seen 90km? OK, maybe more like 300km, so anyways, I would ay $50 + shipping.

They will have a bit of tape residue, but never crashed, etc. Basically they are like new.

Regardless of whether you buy mine, I recommend Nitto stuff - beautiful quality on everything that I have seen that they make!
