Well, I've done the google thing but its not giving me any clear answers. Does anyone know if a cx1 rd will clear a 34t or 36t big cog?
Thanks in advance!

On a 1 by, yes..if you get biggest(34/36) cog hitting the pulley, remove one link of chain.

Does removing a link rotate the guide pulley backwards and away from the cog?

Yes
Good tip... will see if it works with M9000 too - its guide pulley is also above the cage pivot and... sometimes rubs just a wee bit when shifting to the 42 (XX1 cassette).

Actually the latest on the SRAM site this has changed. They are showing 11-26 through 11-36 for the medium cage (probably with the release of their 11-36 cassette for CX1).

Med-cage CX1 shifts fine on my 11-36 x 38t commuter/gravel rig.

I went for it and am now happily running an 11-34 cassette with the cx1 rd. No fuss whatsoever.
