I'm going to take some proper pictures this weekend, weather permitting, but I wanted to say thank you to the forum for all your help sourcing parts for this dream build. In the process, I've met some really cool cyclists and all around great people on here. Here she is:

Colnago Mapei Master X-Light

I had one of those for a while. Great bike!

Perfection!! Mapei Colnagos are so sweet, and the Master with steel fork is probably the most sought after example. Well done, I bet it rides great

Perfect. Could be in a museum.

What tires are those? Really liking the retro gumwalls these days.

That 7700 era Dura-Ace is the finest group ever made, imo. And I say this as a total Campy fanboy.

Great bike.

Great bike.

It was good stuff, but I never liked the way the hand positions felt. The hood position was so uncomfortable unless you resorted to an awkward bar angle/lever position. Or just ride in the drops all day.

I always felt it was the best hand position Shimano made.

Horses for courses, whatever tickles your pickle, etc etc.

And yeah, totally just ride in the drops all day.

Very nice, and with the last good looking group that Shimano produced.

Beautiful build. Have fun riding.

Question - what wheels are those? I'm hunting for a proper set of rims. Thanks!

Same here. I used to trim a little square of foam, like the stuff shoe insoles are made of, and fit it on the bar before taping, right where the brake cables entered the back of the shifter. Made for a much more level transition. Used that method for years of road and CX.

Thanks, guys! Yeah, I'm excited to test the Dura Ace. I usually ride Campy but I've heard nothing but good things about 7700. The wheels are TB14s and the tires are Vittoria Open Corsas.

Very cool! Let me know if you end up riding in Charlottesville and we can double the number of steel bikes on the group ride!
