Campagnolo Chorus 10V Cassette questions
At present on my SEVEN AXIOM I have a Chorus 10 cog 12t / 25t cassette
and a compact chorus 34t / 50t crankset
So to increase hill climbing gears keeping the short cage chorus rear derailleur So can I
1. Go to a 12 t 29t cassette
2. Or a 13t /29t cassette
3. Or is 13t /27t cassette maximum for the short cage derailleur
4. I could go to a 48t big chain ring if that would help
5. What is the max rear cog a short cage derailleur with handle
Thanks

You should be able to get the 13 29 to work on there. I have done it. You may need to adjust the cage tension screw to make it run smoothly and make sure that you have as long a chain as possible by using the small cog small ring method of determining chain length. Best bet is to throw in the cassette and see if it works without any tuning which I suspect should be the case.

The 12-29 is a 11's cassette. For the Campy ten speed, your choices are a current production Veloce all loose cog 13-29, and if you can find it (E Bay usually) a Centaur 12-30 (largest 3 cogs on a carrier). While you may make a short cage work, a medium cage is best for that much difference.

I have used a 39-53 (14 teeth difference) with a 12-30 and short cage. So....if you get chain length just right, I imagine a 34-48 (also 14 teeth difference) would work.

BTW....For a while, there was a Centaur 10 speed 12-27 available also. Check E bay. But not so much climbing difference from a 12-25 to a 12-27.

With climbing there is a thing of technique factor too, I see your age and stuff but if you lack of climbing and pedaling technique you can put a 40T cog in the back and that wont help as good as it should.

What about triple?? you play safe that way.

use a 13-29 cassette. That will work without any other changes. You really don't need a 12.

a triple would work but a lot of components throw out to convert I sold many a bike because of that

Just to further confirm, I use a 13-29 cassette with my 10-speed Record RD and compact (50x34) crankset. Works like a charm (though at times I wish the smallest cog was a 12-tooth).

I'm using 12-30 10v cassettes on 53/39 w/Centaur short cage RD's. I have a 12-27 on a 50/34 w/Record short cage RD. The 12-30 worked, but I didn't like the jumps. It works fine, with the B screw adjusted.
