Hello,
This weekend I swapped my Avid one piece disc rotors on my Rock Lobster to the Shimano Ice Tech disc rotors hoping it would improve braking performance (road BB7 calipers), and because the Shimano rotors are two piece, the section where the two pieces of the rotors connect, it hits the caliper. Is it just a matter of getting a new adapter to stretch the caliper away from the frame/fork? I am using 160mm rotors and the adapters for the brakes say it is for 160mm. Should I buy the 180mm adapters to create more space? Hopefully my explanation is clear enough for someone to help.

Thanks in advance.

Is the rotor carrier contacting the brake pad "tab"?

Is it the tab of the pad from the bb7 that is hitting the rotor? I've just tweaked them out of the way or trimmed them off

You have quit a bit of of adjustment with the caliper, see if you can move it around and then re-adjust everything

Thanks guys. That is exactly what I was looking for. I searched for it last night, and read a couple random archived articles from MTBR but didn't see that one..... i'll go back to the old rotors.

depending on how much it's hitting you could just the caliper out a bit with a couple washers. i assume you're already using the avid mounts?
