I have an older RD205 American Classic hub that requires two 0.5mm spacers...I have one. AC doesn't carry them. Anyone know of a source?

Cassette spacer? I think the spacer to use Shimano 10 cassettes on 8/9 hubs is 1 mm thick.

I have a 1mm that you are welcome to. If it will work and you want me to throw it in the mail PM me your address.

If you're talking about cassette spacers, Wheels Mfg. sells 1.0mm and 0.3mm.

I may have a AC .5 if you want to look. I've had a few of their hubs that exploded.

It's a spacer that goes on the axle in the freehub. http://amclassic.com/download/manuals/15mm_rear_road_hub_overhaul.pdf

Can you measure the ID and OD of the one you have? MSC has stainless metric shims that are .1mm, .2 mm, .3 mm, .5 mm, .75 mm, 1 mm thick. Sizes (ID/OD) are:

8/14
10/16
12/18
14/20
16/22

and larger, but I'm guessing it's in that range.

Looking at the manual the OD may not be too critical but you can judge better with the parts in hand.

This is a great lead. I'll check it out. Thanks!

Hmm, yours is old enough to be 15mm?

I have several AC hubs, but they are all 17mm axle. Had issues going from Shimano to Campy, needed more than .5mm between the outer hub shell bearing and the inner freehub body bearing. (11sp cassette rubbed the hub shell)

I guess the 15mm could be completely different.

If you have the 15mm axle version then White Industries hubs use a 0.5mm spacer which will fit.

If it's a 17mm axle then the Zipp 188 hubs use a similar spacer which will fit.

I don't recall all the details but American Classic had a recall on some of the clutch plates so if you're rebuilding the hub I'd check you've got the latest clutch plate.

Well, I checked MSC and am a bit taken aback at an 0.5mm shim going for upwards of $15. White industries doesn't seem to want to list replacement parts on their website (BTDT...it took me a week and a half and multiple emails just to locate an H2 endcap).
I did however find the perfect shim...In the UK. Sheesh.

Any other ideas?

Have you tried McMaster Carr--they have everything and their prices might be better than MSC.

Have you contacted American Classic directly?
Maybe they could send one your way.

First thing. A week and I have yet to hear back.

Good to know. Service after the sale, most important in my book.

Some companies respond better to phone calls. I needed a bearing for a WI hub and posted on their FB page on a Saturday...someone replied and suggested an alternative, and also said I could call back on Monday, which I did, and was able to place the order.

I've had a similar experience with AC when I needed a new axle...
