I picked up a set SRAM hydro road levers on a whim, these are the 10spd S700 version. I can't seem to find any info if they will work with a shimano front deraillure. I would like to avoid using a SRAM FD if I can.

Yeh, they should work with the older 5600/6600/7800 model front mechs.

Cool. Thanks. That will save me some aggravation I am sure.

The original SRAM 10s shifters work best with with a 10s Shimano front derailleur, especially the CX70 when the outer ring is 50t or smaller.

All SRAM 11s shifters and the last gen Red 10s work best with the matching Yaw front derailleurs, the cable pull is different and there's no cross-compatibility anymore.

Thankfully, the Yaw front derailleurs actually work

Spot on. I used a 7800 FD with 10s Red shifters for years trying to avoid the SRAM front shifting issues. Swapped over to a 10s Yaw, even with older red shifters, and it was a big step up from the shimano/sram mix and match.

So should I be looking to get a yaw FD for these shifters? I assume they are force level.

no, the 10 speed S700 are non-yaw

This says that it is yaw compatible:

I'm running a Red yaw 10s FD with Force on one frameset. Swapped in yaw rings (non-hidden) and all works perfect. Had 4 years on the original Force FD and last season on the update. Never really had any issues with the original FD, but yaw is definitely way smoother.

Ok, I am not sure what I am going to do. I have a shimano compact crank I plan on using on this bike, it's a cross bike. Maybe I will try a shimano FD that I have laying around and start with that.

^^^ Best place to start if you already have "pieces parts". Easy enough to swap out if not giving you what you want.
