Cleaning and repacking my Record/ Chorus rear hub.

If I loosen this set screw, will the freehub body slide off?
Any bearings in there to be wary of?

No, that set screw is just a grease port..don't lose it!! It screams 'lose me'.

The axle end is 17mm and is 'left threaded'..righty loosey. Take that off and the FH body slides off. The outer bearings can be replaced easily(6802??), the inner is held by a blind c clip that is 'almost' impossible to get out. But clean, add some grease between the bearings(a little goes a long way). Don't forget the spacer between the bearings, around the axle, inside the FH body.

The pawls and wee spring can be cleaned and oiled. The spring easily replaced.

Thanks again OP.
I didn't bother with that c clip. Got it all cleaned up and running smooth(er) again.

If you stick you finger in the free hub when it is off and the bearings turn smoothly there is really not much to service in there. There are two sealed bearings in there to check.
