Apologies in advance for another tire thread...

I am a fan of both Schwalbe and Compass/Grand Bois tires. I ride/have ridden Compass 700 32, and 650B 38 (and soon 42) on different bikes, and 700 28 Schwalbe Ultremo/One on others, as well as other non-performance oriented Schwalbes. I thought the 700 28 Schwalbe compares favorably, even in terms of comfort, with the Compass 32, despite the lower pressure and higher volume of the latter. Any thoughts on comparison of the 28s? There is something I like about the Ultremo/One... perhaps the tread compound?? The handling is just great for a club/sport bike. It's taught and responsive but the ride is still comfy. I have to think the casing is as "supple" as Compass. The weights are the same.

I think those are both great tires.
Can't go wrong with either.
Having said that my favorite road tire ever is GB Cerf 700 X 28.

I'm interested in this as well. Been thinking about picking up some Grand Bois 28's. I'm not sure how I feel about tan sidewalls, but if the ride is nice I'm sure I'll get used to it. I'm done with these Conti 4 seasons. They're tough as nails and last forever, but the ride is horrible.

Havent tried the ones but I was very happy with my ultremo r.1 when I had them. got a pair of the gb and gave up without riding them cuz it was too hard to mount. I could do it but didnt want the headache roadside

Put contis on there which are just whatever. Looking for replacements again and may try the stampede pass or go back to schwalbe

The compass version is available black sidewall.

Do the scwable one tires run true to size or wider or narrower?

Thank you very much!!!!

Second question since you are running the same setup that I am thinking about. Do the tires run tall like Conti's tend to do?

How are the schwalbe one's getting them mounted on a rim? Ok or a pain? TIA!

Interested in this as well, since 2 Schwalbe Ones = less than 1 Compass, price wise.

YMMV but the ONE clincher (28c) goes on a Kinlin rim w/o much difficulty. A single plastic tire lever makes a quick job of it on Campy wheels which are often a bit more difficult.

The ONE tubeless mounted on a Stans Alpha 340 by hand

Compass standard casing 32s are magic marshmallows, Ultremo ZX 28s are very close to GB 28s standard casing.

All three go on and off Mavic Sport, MA3 and Velocity rims little to no use of tire levers.

What pressure do you run?

I've no basis for comparison with contis, but I would say the Ones/Ultremo's have a full round profile, so maybe a little tall.

Regarding ease of mounting- I have mounted both Schwalbes and 32 Compass and GB on Open Pro, Dyad, Belguim, Belgium plus, and they have all mounted easily.

Once again, thanks. Round profile tells me that they will not run tall in the way that conti's do. I will be picking up a set.

i've got shwalbes mounted on various rims, also some tubless, both 25 and 28. No problems getting them on, and shape is more round than tall (as in michelin). and pretty true to size, depending on rim.
