Took a nice chill ride out through the hills west of town this morning and had some amazing views of the blue bonnets in bloom. Also came upon a great little chapel that was too perfect not to snap a pic....especially because I was riding my Colnago, the bells were chiming, and it just felt like Ernesto wanted me to stop!

Happy Easter and hope everyone has a chance to get out and have some great rides as well!

I was in Austin last weekend for the Rattler mtb race and I was blown away by the blue bonnets. They're everywhere! Is TX still under drought conditions? Austin was pretty green and lush and the rattler course had quite a bit of water on it. My CX skills came in handy while running through the mud. :)

definitely still under drought, especially Austin. Bluebonnets in mass just take a well times storm or two.

Aquifers are probably still low, but central Texas had a very wet winter and early Spring. That's one reason I'm only at 220 miles!

was out on Hwy 360 in AUS yesterday...the wildflowers were bringing it!

bluebonnets are ok, but imo the Indian paintbrush and various mallows are more attractive.

All the wildflowers make sitting in traffic on MoPac slightly more pleasant :)

My Dad grew up on a Ranch near Marble Falls Tx. Easter time was always my favorite time of year to go down there. The Blue bonnets were always beautiful.

I think you are there for those 10 beautiful days in October. :) Oh, and the beauty and excitement of the FIRST snowfall of the year.

October/November rainfall is essential to the wildfowers.

I'm with you Seramount - although I love bluebonnets, they shouldn't overshadow the range of incredible wildflowers we have, IMHO.

We were an hour East of Austin for the weekend and the Indian Paintbrushes look incredible. They're brighter than they've been in years. Other than the insane amount of Oak pollen turning the world yellow, it's a beautiful time of year to live in Texas!

Wow!

TeX pal, can you be a bit more specific about your location or is that top secret?

Sure Wei. It was just off FM 2145 between Warda and Round Top. Plenty of small roads and gravel out that way...

Interesting...never been that part of the hood before, even though I used to live in east Austin. Thanks bro, time to get reconnected again soon.
