Well, tomorrow is The Day.

Which cycling publications/websites will have the most outrageous April Fool's story?

This (http://velonews.competitor.com/2006/04/bikes-and-tech/product-review-a-new-idea-from-steve-hed_9673)remains my all-time favorite!

:p

Those wheels are fine, but the bike rides even better when paired with one of these (from Sheldon's site):

Ahh, yes, the Stalingrad wheel!

This was my personal favorite because it was so far over my head. (http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=146346)

Almost 20 years ago, before April Fools jumped the shark, NPR was king of April Fools news stories. The 2 I recall

Some VT maple syrup trees, after tapped, every now and then build up pressure and explode.

The Boston Celtic (pronounced - Sell Tics) sign Ireland's biggest basketball star. He won't play till they refer to the team properly the Celtics (pronounced Kell Tics).

By the way, my son goes to a catholic school. In 2nd grade he convinced his classmates that the priest of the school was actually born and raised Jewish. Came up with that himself - I kind of liked it.

My two all-time favorites

#1 - the rapha climbing lead (no longer on rapha site)
http://road.cc/content/news/33970-cycling-world-goes-april-fools-crazy
new Climbing Lead which they describe as “a discreet, lightweight and highly effective training tool… designed to help less able climbers ride with more accomplished ones.”

“The Rapha Climbing Lead is made from an advanced blend of silk and kevlar fibres, to create a fabric that has minimal stretch and a translucent finish. It can withstand up to 200kg of load and is connected between the lead rider’s seatpost and the following rider’s handlebars using a patented hook-and-mount system. Both couplings are made from a transparent carbon, making them less visible to the naked eye, and both are lined with double-density tricot fleece to prevent damage to either bike.”

It’s pink, naturally. And £170. The Rapha write up continues:
“According to research conducted by the University of Leichtglaubig in southern Germany, resistance techniques work by improving the static strength of the following rider, at the same time developing the explosiveness of the lead rider, an invaluable asset for climbers.”

#2 - Reconstructive surgery places Contador’s season in doubt

A friend of mine convinced friend B the rope was real. Months later, they were at a Rapha retail store and friend A asked the clerk to mention to friend B they had the rope in stock and was on sale. He bit but not enough to buy.... lasted for over a year.

From http://inrng.com/2015/04/new-fan-lobby-group-being-formed/ Cycling fans are grouping together to form a lobby group called Association de Vélo de Route Internationale. AVRI will campaign on behalf of fans to ensure their voices are heard and stake a claim to share in the spoils of professional cycling and lobby for improvements to help fans such as better race websites and sharper TV production.

And....

"Armstrong’s 5’-10”, 160 lb.-build may be perfect for endurance sports, but he’s significantly smaller than typical WWF wrestlers. “He knows the right people who can help him bulk-up,” our source told us. “But they’ll only be giving him training advice, and doing some testing. It will be limited to that.” :)

I was going to post a thread entitled "UCI Reinstates Lance Armstrong's 7 TdF Titles," with a brief, made-up story and a broken link to VeloNews, but didn't want to crash the Paceline's servers. Keith A has enough work on his hands.
