Here's an older one of mine. Some bikes are gone or have new paint. Still, good system for a smaller apartment. Sadly requires a fair about of holes in the wall, but nothing to difficult otherwise.

I like that setup - are the hooks just the standard fasttrack utility hooks or are they bike specific?

Bike specific (http://www.rubbermaid.com/Category/Pages/ProductDetail.aspx?CatName=GarageOrganization&SubcatId=FastTrackGarageOrganizationSystem&Prod_ID=RP091292&Redirect=1). Only thing I'd change is having some sort of second rail or something lower to protect the wall from wheel scuffs.

Nice stable and nice setup. What's the width there -- i.e., how long is the FastTrack rail?

Nice stable and nice setup. What's the width there -- i.e., how long is the FastTrack rail?

Available in two lengths: 48" or 84"

Keep in mind that the hooks are not deep enough for very deep rims.

Lots of DIY options to keep the lower tire off of the wall. Speaking of which, you can still occasionally find the older style FastTrack bike hooks (see below) that kept the top tire off of the wall and provided a bit of lateral stability. I had an installation like this in a previous garage, but now use the Saris CycleGlide for overhead storage since the current garage has higher ceilings and I can use the wall space for other purposes.

I'd posted these a while ago when I moved into the apartment (that we're now packing up and moving out of, lol) There was a small room off the kitchen that used to be the back entrance, put up two 2x4's lag bolted into the studs for support, followed by the standard blue hawk hooks from lowes.

Got a folding clothing rack at Bed Bath Beyond and turned it into a rack that holds 7 bikes. Three bikes require front wheels to be removed, but the wheels can rest next to the bike on the rack.

THIS: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/commercial-grade-adjustable-folding-garment-rack/1011977235

Combined with some spare tubes to wrap the parts of the rail that the wheels hang from becomes this:

I got the 84" rail, but had to cut it down. Easy enough to do with a hacksaw as the rail is metal and the black plastic clips right on. Just have to cut both to size.

I like your Geekhouse colorway tubs!

Thanks. It was nice when my Mudville was still team colors. Got hit and got rebuilt (whole new front triangle) to be black and blue, just like the IF. Wife has a BRIGHT pink Mudville in the process of being put together. Should be rad.

Follow the rules. n+1 (or s-1, depending on your situation).

If I had never sold/gave away any of my or my kids real (non-dept store) bikes and just kept adding I would have a grand total of 7 dirt + 9 road + 3 kids dirt + 1 tandem + 2 cruisers= 22 bikes. Maybe that's what a lot of these guys have been doing. If I have a bike I don't ride much, I've been known to help other riders/club members out with a good deal here & there. People did that for me early on so kinda paying it forward.

Currently have 2 dirt + 2 road + tandem + 2 cruisers = 7

According to my wife, I'm at n+1 or s-1. :D

I'd like to award the grand prize in this thread to the OP and witcombusa.

The OP: very clean, over the top storage tub color matching

Witcombusa: It's not that hard to amass a large quantity of bikes, given time and space. what's hard is having a large quantity of bikes stored in a really clean space. chapeau for your set up. I'd like to enjoy a glass of wine while taking a tour.

Must mention but not pictured: ryun and khrea. Dig aorund. If those two posted here we would all go home.

I have a small two car garage that parks a single car. laundry, water heater, furnace, storage racks and windsurf gear take up floor space. That leaves some bikes on the floor in Rakks, some on freestanding stand, some hanging off pulleys, and some on hooks to beams. I wish I could have a single wall racking but thats not physically possible. The good news is bikes for me wife daughter all out of the way. the bad news is I am out of hooks for N+1

Since Paul called me out....

I got very lucky when we moved last year. Previous owner had a huge RV garage built on the back corner.
I was able to assemble a nice shop area on the back third after years of squeezing bikes in spare bedrooms. It has been awesome and I play bike shop for riding buddies with an hourly rate charged in sixpacks or zacapa rum...

A couple empty slots but those will be filled this next month with a couple incoming bikes for me and the wife.
Plans this summer to frame out this section to add a/c. Humidity has been a problem here in Florida.

Here's my incipient space -- a roughly 10' x 24' space over my garage, which has this WEIRD staircase built into it (for no reason) which I'm eventually going to demo. My intention is to run bike hooks on the back wall where the bikes are leaned currently, remove the stairs and put in two more windows, and put a countertop and shelving on the left side...

Before moving to the sticks last summer, I had a 6'x8' closet in the basement of my apartment building that I somehow managed to cram as many as 8 bikes at a time. Yay, city living.

Yup you can see the dehumidifier in the picture. Eventually I am going to frame out a section and air condition it just to fight off the corrosion.

Florida riding is definitely different. Miss the hills of VA but something about a group ride at 30mph plus that is its own kind of fun

Just noticed I to got "called out" Ryun...
After many years of having stuff stored any place I could find I finally built myself a "shop" where I could have all my bike stuff in one place...ahhhhh.
Then my wife found a house literally 4.5minutes away that she fell in love with so the move was on. Unfortunately the new place did not offer the ceiling space of the old shop so back into the nooks and crannies went a lot of stuff aka bikes, frames etc. Finally decided I'd sell some of my stuff since I couldn't enjoy "seeing it" any more so I've slowly whittled away until now I'm down to what's visible in the bottom pic give or take a couple bikes and a frame or two that I couldn't get in the shot.

I'm a new guy here, but I've got a bike or two. My setup is more towards the any available space end of the spectrum. The biggest challenge, other than a lot of bikes, is a flat roofed garage. Fortunately, it's a three car garage and we have the "dirt room" now known as the "bike cave".

I think I just shed a tear. Room for bikes and a studio and a man cave and....

THIS is how to do a first post.:banana:I'm a new guy here, but I've got a bike or two. My setup is more towards the any available space end of the spectrum. The biggest challenge, other than a lot of bikes, is a flat roofed garage. Fortunately, it's a three car garage and we have the "dirt room" now known as the "bike cave".

The start of the hanging project--not enough depth to leave them straight out, so I went with Velohinge.

Now for finishing the rest!
