I recently acquired a Felt F1C is beautiful condition with full Dura-Ace group. I am really on the fence with changing it over to Record 10 speed. I have two other bikes with Campy but this one is not. Just wondering what the forum thinks about changing it over to Campy or just leaving it alone.

I'm a huge campy fan, but if I had a really nice bike with full Dura Ace, I would leave it alone and enjoy the high quality ride.

No change. Options.
As and when the law makers issue a citywide ban on all campy equipped bikes from public roads, you still have a bike that you can ride on.

..it's not like it's sram :), stay with the Dura Ace. Nice bike.

Tee hee...Just check the der cables, these levers had a tendency to eat cables.

Both are great options.

Best thing is... 7800 Full groups still fetch a fair asking price.. so even if you choose to abandon the DA group.. you'll have a good amount of $$ to invest in a Record group.

however..

Id stick with 7800.. since its clearly...better :)

Try riding it a while, and if you find yourself getting confused by the different shift levers, switch.

This^...enjoy the differences. I just built up a bike with 9000...First Shimano build in over 12 years...and just updated my 11 speed to the new Campy stuff (kept the old SRM cranks)...I enjoy both (prefer campy)...and appreciate the differences.

Fixed it for you

I think 7800 is one of the ugliest groups ever made, compounded by the fact it followed the prettiest (7700).

I'd swap to Record 10.

Even though I'm a Campagnolo lover and user I have to take exception to the 7800 ugliest claim. I think the whole group looks great except the shifters. I love that darn crankset. It's intimidating and badass lookin'. I might even change the 7800 shifters to 7900 and get back the hidden cable look :) And yes I know I will have to change the front derailleur only if I do this.

I had two bikes with Canpy and bought a third bike with a Shimano group. I didn't like the fact that I always had to pay attention to what bike I was riding before shifting. Now all three bikes have Campy.

I just have different bike types for that. The road bikes get Campy, the gravel bike gets Shimano and the mtn bike has Scram.

One potential downside of keeping it Shimano is that you won't be able to quickly swap wheels between bikes if the need arises.

...or, to think of it another way: One potential plus of keeping it Shimano is you'll have an excuse to buy even more spare wheelsets!

Hhmm...I never thought about the wheel swap but then again I never do that with the bikes I have now :)

Why Campy 10s and not 11s?
(BTW, I voted to keep the Dura Ace)

Cost is the main reason.

Lately, record 10 pricing has been right in the mix with similar condition chorus and record 11.

Hhmm...I'm not seeing it. With everything that I need to make a switch it would cost about $850 including chain and bottom bracket. I've not seen Chorus or Record 11 speed going for that much.

You can get the old logo 11spd stuff under $850.

Edit:
This NEW 2014 chorus group went for a little over $900

problem is that my rear wheel is not compatible for 11 speed and that would cost me even more money

I was running under the assumption that you had campy wheels for your other bikes. If so, they would accept an 11spd cassette.

Some Mavic wheels will also take a shimano 11 cassette which indexes fine with campy.

Money aside, I think the Dura Ace looks good. That's a used bike, correct? If so, you won't lose any value in the DA gruppo if you give it a try for a few hundred miles, then if you don't like it, sell and get the Campy 10s

One of each is nice, increases mental flexibility.

I have Ergo, Bar-cons, downtube and rod actuated shifting bikes.

I've always thought the DA 7800 was an aesthetically beautiful groupset –– except for the shifters! Uggghhh! I ran the 7800 groupset for a couple of years and everything worked flawlessly, but I really came to hate the ergonomics of those shifters.
I'd swap in 7900 shifters (which I think are beautiful and comfy!)

Cost is the main reason.

If cost is the reason you'd stay 10, it should be the reason you leave it DA. I'd swap it out & sell the DA group so everything is Campy, unless even that's too much.

Not taking other factors into consideration (wheels, shifting, etc) just the fact that you have two bikes that are Campy equipped; I would keep the Dura Ace on it. IMO, the best Dura Ace group!

?? If it's 10s, it's 11s, if it's Campagnolo and also not one of the later HPW hubs..

I totally agree with you on the DA 7900 shifters. They are better looking and a better design.

That looks like a very nicely matched bike.
Wheels, saddle, bar tape, frame color and group come together quite well.
With the resale cost of Shimano kit nowadays why not just put a few miles on the Dura-Ace then decide if you want to change it out.

I vote for keep it... I'm full Campy, but I'd love to see what all the fuss is about, and if a full bike came through my garage with the top dawg Shimano group on it, I'd totally leave it on there.
