All,

After a ground up restoration, I finally got the EM Signature f/f built up that I bought a while back here on the forum.
It will be for my wife and we came up with the silly idea to make it a tribute to her beloved little car which is white with black interior and very little chrome.
This drove the color scheme for the frame, the black Veloce group and the black Archetypes.

We still like the idea of matching the car, but I am having some second thoughts on the all black look of the wheels so I put on a mirror polished TB-14 front wheel for comparison.

So, what are the opinions on:

1. Archetypes with black tires?
2. Archetypes with tan wall tires?
3. Mirror polished TB-14s with black tires?
4. Mirror polished TB-14s with tan wall tires?
5. anodized TB-14s...?

Something else all together, any recommendation is welcome.

I like the Archetypes.
The black matches well with the seat and bar tape. (you'll get a silver brake track your first ride in the rain).
Also, black tires give the bike a more modern look (if that's what you like)
There is also the silver polished archetypes:

The silver post, stem and levers look out of place with the black. The silver wheels balance it out very nicely.

I normally would say Polished TB14 but I do not dislike the look of the black archtypes.

However I think Gray Ano TB14 would look the best IMO. It would have the classic look but also go really well with the black components.

I actually like the all black and agree that the silver post and stem is throwing it off.

I think every bike as nice as this deserves a 2nd wheelset.
Nothing wrong with a split-personality in this case.
Shame the lightest option isn't tubie.
Eddie would approve.

I think Mirror polished TB-14s with tan wall tires and the stem and post are just fine being silver.

I took this picture today at a tribute to Eddy Merckx currently taking place in Brussels (www.merckx-ickx.be (http://www.merckx-ickx.be)). I would say to stay traditional you have to go with silver hubs, spokes and rims. It just looks right.

For any others that will be in Brussels before the end of June, the expo is not all that large but there are some really neat pieces from Eddy's racing career.

The handlebar type/position is making me wince. If you want a flat top for comfort/hand position, use a bar with no ramp angle.

I agree with this comment. Coincidentally, there is a conversation about this across the hall http://www.velocipedesalon.com/forum/f40/handlebars-compact-bar-flat-bar-hood-transition-40314.html. Don't torture your wife with unusable drops.

Fixed, glad I have that 6mm hex key laying around...;)

(BTW, I also took the red FD adjustment sticker off)

I just went through a similar debate. If your wife would rather have the short and shallow bars with the flat top and that quill stem takes a 26.0mm bar, you can get some here: http://store.velo-orange.com/index.php/components/handlebars/dajia-cycleworks-short-and-shallow-handlebar.html or here: http://www.somafab.com/archives/product/highway-1-bar.

Just my opinion, but the tan walls with the mirror polish TB's is the best looking. Compliments the elegant vintage of the frame without trying to force the new, cutting edge look. Again: just my opinion.
