I recently picked up a fully rigid Gunnar Ruffian and I'm thinking about replacing the White Bros rigid fork with a decent suspension fork. The only problem is that the frame will only accept a fork with a straight 1 1/8th steerer tube.

Are there any nice suspension forks being made with straight steerers anymore, or is everything tapered now?

Looks like Fox still makes some http://www.ridefox.com/filter.php?m=bike&t=forks&f1=mix&v1=FLOAT&ref=fhbadge

My buddy just picked up a straight Marzocchi fork from Jenson for a screaming deal but it was a 29er, seems like a nice fork. Jenson have quite a lot of straight 11/8 Marzocchi 26er forks.

I just did a quick search on pricepoint and looked like there were some options there as well.

Also - Lefty with a 321 adapter??

New, X-Fusion. They used to litter ebay at around $300:) Not sure what happened

Used, Reba is the way to go. Infinitely rebuildable, craigslist

I think White Bros will do a straight steerer, but it's not an off the shelf item.

Personally, I would get a 29+ front tire. Depending on the rims you have, you may need one that is ~30mm width. (Such as Flow EX, P35/Blunt35, etc.).

Or get an older Reba or Fox on ebay.

I am awaiting a 29'er built with Niner suspension adjusted fork. I spent a mind boggling amount of time deciphering the options. Granted, I was focused on RockShox and Fox. Both have options. I am fixated on a Fox 1 1/8th Float/100mm/15mm/44mm offset. There is not a lot of options. Check Jenson, Pricepoint for starters. There are a plethora mail order places, non of which I know from reputation.
