The right shifter, Record 11, developed an internal rattle about 300 miles after being installed.
I've never had a new style speed shifter apart. Any idea what to look for?

Thanks.

The 11 are easier to take appart and put together than the 10 speed ones if that helps you. 11 has less parts. As for the rattle, no idea what can be, probably is the center screw that is lose??

I would check to make sure the brake cable is pulling the brake lever blade all the way back..and check the 3mm bolts front and back that hold the guts together altho if they were loose, it wouldn't shift well. Also check to see if the little rubber tit is still in the brake lever, and the shift lever isn't tappng the brake lever.

As for right above..getting the front assembly back in, pushing the center bolt thru while getting the shifter center spring in the slot..that's a challenge, particularly with the hood on. Yes, 2008 and older needs to have the center back bolt around the flats, and getting the flat spring wound, etc. BUT I think 2009+ levers aren't 'easier than the older ones', IMHO-of course.

I think if you took the levers apart to parade rest and counted the parts..it would be a wash.

I can vouch for the possibility of two levers rattling when the lil rubber wasnt in betwixt.......

It's not the brake cable or the rubber button. Shifting seems OK.
I assume the lever has to be taken off to tighten the bolt. Correct?

Yes, for the rear and 'may' be able to access front bolt with brake cable disconnected only. Righty tighty on both btw

Where can I find an exploded diagram for the "new" levers?

Campagnolo.com

Under 'support' then 'documentation' then spare parts. Best year is 2009.

Or Google search...'ultrashift parts blowup' or something similar.

Ya but in the last 50000 miles its the only thing I have replaced on my 8, 10 and 11 speed groupsets. My buddy has gone through an ultegra group and now a force group in his 50000 miles. Rubber thingy seems cheap by comparison..YMMV

Well, pick a small bit from a 9000/6800/5800 lever and see how much it is? Oh, I see, not available from shimano...at any price. kill a internal wee plastic bit? Makes the lever not functional..how much is a 9000 lever?

Yeah, I know....context is everything. I bought a set of 2010 Centaur levers (the cool ones) and thought I got a smoking deal until I realized the tits were missing.
I may diss Campy for cost and stuff like proprietary chain rings, but I'm not moving to Shimano anytime soon. That would just be wrong.

Proprietary Chainrings....like 9000/6800/5800? Those?

So...if Shimano and SRAM jumped off a cliff, it's OK for Campy to do so too? ;)
