So, are red painted bikes really faster and blue painted bikes stronger????

Sandy

Red bikes see red if blue bikes are faster. Blue bikes feel blue if red bikes are stronger. There is constant turmoil between the two colors. A simple solution is to paint your bike red and blue and use white handlebar tape. Then the bike will be red, white, and blue, you will be patriotic, and your bike will get the full backing of your government.

halt... GH's bike is a pansy blue for pansies.. just like milram. a real blue (strong) is IBM blue. that's an indefatigable blue.

So I've heard.

But does it also apply when it's just the bar tape?

i cannot get excited over a bike where blue is the main color. give me white, red, orange, pink, anything. blue accents or lettering is fine. just not all blue!

Actually it has something to do with the Doppler effect. I haven't thought about it since college physics, so maybe one of the science guys can fill in the details.

Escuse me, but could the moderator please reprimand Serotta Andrew for starting a thread that denigrates certain people's bikes? ;)

My Otrott is neither red nor blue but naked (since I assume decal color doesn't count). I guess that means it is neither fast nor slow. It just is.

How Zen.

Boy I've missed out being gone for four days. . .

What's really fast is a blue bike that looks red because it's moving away from you so fast that the light reflecting off of it is shifted towards the red end of the visible spectrum. Very cool (and very fast- like 0.9 times the speed of light, at least).

I think you're right. My road bike is Gios blue and it's held up through a couple of crashes.

ditto my serotta cti.. sapphire blue and crashed several times, still holding up strong despite 2 or 3 destroyed wheels. compare with wine-cloured CRL, ultimately crashed and bent :(. and compare with red pinarello which went caput on first crash. i hope i never crash my pretty blue steel torelil...

blue is real.

You remember that day at the beach we spent? That bike reminds me of the sunburn you got after falling asleep there all day. Never seen anyone quite so blue or, oh, so red.
