Any input on the Jamis Zenith Frame? Looking to replace a worn out Giant TCR (Alum) in kind. Transferring Record 9 speed group so modern frame not needed. Also see Ribble make several interesting Al frames.

Thanks
Glenn

Can't comment on it from personal experience, but a cat 3 friend of mine has it as his only bike. It seems to suit him just fine for training, crits, and road racing. He got it complete and replaced the wheels, but that was about it.

Edit: turns out he's a 2 now.

I got a 2008 Jamis Xenith a few years ago second hand and it's been a nice ride. I think it would make a good crit bike. Used frames don't seem to command as much of a price as other brands, it could be a nice deal if you find one on the cheap.

I had this frame for the summer. it's the smallest size, i think. what interested me was that it had a 50mm rake fork. tapered steerer, 73 STA. I found it twitchy. Couldn't let go of the bars. Went over the bars, tore a shoulder ligament on like the 2-3rd ride. the crash didn't hurt the frame. put it about 500 miles on it. needed something with more steerer tube. can you race it? Yea, probably. is it stiff at the BB? yea, mine used 30mm bearings. bought a merckx LXM frame afterwards that i liked better but i'm not going at a quick pace all the time. will it build into a really lite bike? yea, easily, go with carbon bars, stem, seatpost, crank and carbon wheels. I used AC350s 1300gs. got it very light.

Thats alot of bucks for a old alloy frame.

That bike looks like has sloping config... who knows what;s the real size is, looks like 56 ish fit to me.

That seems to be a bit high for an older aluminum frame. If you are set on aluminum I would look for a Cannondale CAAD 8,9, or 10. Can usually find one at a decent price and those that have them seem to overwhelmingly love them. Just a thought. Matt

De Rosa is the way to go, why go with the masses?? :p

besides, the welds are so nice that many will think is a carbon frame.

Numbers from their Geometry charts are correct fit for me. I ride a compact now.

NOT paying that price for sure... But I like the obscurity of the frame. When built with Ultegra in 04 Catalog, weight was only 16#. Add the limited production run of 03 and it is defiantly a conversation bike. :)
